How much would you pay for a good gun club membership?

I belong to a club in northeast Ohio and dues are $175 a year plus tax (about $15.50 a month). We have 30, 50, 100, 200, and 600yard ranges (all outdoor). We're on approximately 238 acres and have camping, hunting, and fishing available and hold sanctioned matches throughout the year.

I am in Everett, WA, We have two ranges close to the area. One is Marysville Rifle Club the other is Seattle Rifle & Pistol Assoc.

Marysville Rifle Club costs $275.00 to join initially. Then it is $75.00 per year or $50.00 for seniors, plus you have to put in 16 hours of work at the club. For every hour you don't work it costs you $25 per hour or $15 for seniors.

Marysville has a rifle range out to 200 and gongs to 220, pistol range, trap and skeet, Cowboy, IPSC/USPSA, and other venues.

Seattle Rifle costs $325.00 to join initially. Then it is $150.00 per year, plus 10 hours of work at the club. For every hour you don't work it costs you $10 per hour.

Seattle Rifle has rifle range out to 220 meters, there is a range out to 500 yard for matches only. They have skeet, bow and pistol as well.

I am a member of both as of this year.

I'm in two private clubs. One has rifle (200 yards), pistol, rimfire, trap, and archery. Annual dues are $20 plus a 16 hour work bond, and it's less than 10 miles from home. The other is further away - 65 miles, has annual dues of $65 and is on 2,500+ acres with 1,000 yard, pistol, rimfire, silhouette, sporting clays, archery, and scheutzen range.

I'm fortunate to have these and I'll get to the close range once or more times a week.

P.S. location is Colorado

The $440 maybe the best route for you to go ,saves fuel and having to drive clear across the jungle. You more in likely would use it a lot more ,worth the try for a year. I would ask them up front if it is C-More free...........LOL

Our 1000 yard club in PA. is $60. a year $660 Life membership that can be payed for in installments in the calendar year. We also have a 100 yard range, and a 200 yard rim fire range plus 600 yards. There are pits for the 1000 yards 15 benches that are covered and cleaning benches that are also covered along with trailer hook ups. I couldn't ask for more. But my commute is the worst thing 3 and a half hours 170 miles.

As noted above if the "mag dumping jitterbugs" and rif raf are kept out and the facilities and matches are decent, then you might be wise to pay. Also, how about family visits ( kids, grandkids, etc)

Our club has 16 covered benches, 8 go out to 1000 yards with steel and the other 8 go out to 500 yards with steel. We hold groundhog shoots and steel plate shoots. We have a covered 100 yard range, covered pistol ranges. Trap range and a 5 stand range. We also have a archery range. There is a small pond for the kids to fish in. The club owns 385 acres and hunting goes along with your membership.
Memberships are Pa residents, single $80 family $90. Out of state residents, single $90 family $100. All in all it is a pretty nice club without alot of bs.

I would gladly pay $ 500+ per year for that kind of range.

What a great club

Sounds good on paper. Also, who determines what riff raff really is ? Riff Raff to some is a fellow shooter enjoying himself heating up the barrel on his semi-auto rifle,to some it's an an old crotchety know it all living his glory days at the range..like the guy that can't shut up and leave people alone.

I would surmise others would also characterize Riff Raff as people that are UNSAFE, ignore the rules and/or will NEVER be safe. They handle guns while others are down range, are black gun/autoloader shooters that lay their guns ejection port down with or without loaded mags in them on a cold range. They have bolts closed and ammo in the gun when cold, newbies who think because they were experts on some video shoot 'em up game and now believe they can just pick up an AR, AK or some other autoloader and go about their business, those that wouldn't know a chamber flag from a wind flag and the ones who wave their firearms around like they're a baton in high school marching band.

Matches include:

Benchrest group and score
22 benchrest
steel silhouette
F class

The range is secured with motorized lift gates, and you need your membership card to activate the gate.

I think it is a fantastic bargain! I have to drive 70 miles to reach it, but it is well worth it.

We have 2 rifle ranges one with 50 and 100 yard and the other with 100, 200 and 300 yard ranges. Covered shooting benches of concrete, 5 pistol ranges, trap, skeet and 5 stand. Electric gate that requires a card except on Wens, Sat and Sun till noon, when it's open to the public for $5 a head (an agreement with the city). We had to hire security on those days, or they would tear up the range. Our dues are $80 a year with a one time charge of $50 initiation fee. We have a club house with real toilets at the trap ranges and the other ranges have porta potties. Every weekend there is always a shoot or some type. A good place. Gotta love Arizona

Our club was doing good when members was $100.00 a year and members paid $5.00 to shoot
And non member Paid $20.00
And we had a 1000 yard range
Now they lost the 1000 and raised the price
We are loosing money every month
I guess if you take away the product
Also loose customers
The answer is increased prices
Will get you more profit
Sure hasn’t worked in the last year and a half . Now the are talking to increase it again

Let's see, for bench rest shooter, you will spend thousands of dollars for each rifle plus more for scopes. The convenience of have closed membership, which assures that there is some investigation as to the competence and demeanor of each member, a probationary period to make sure that the new member fits in plus regularly scheduled matches and nearby. All for $400. Sounds like a deal to me.

As for riffraff, here is a bit of what I term riffraff. Younger men and teens who show up to the range with one target with as bunch of AR 15s, Sit next to me and without thought of where their hot brass flies start burning rounds like there is not tomorrow. The guy who shows up with a lot of equipment and takes two tables one to shoot from and one to stow his gear. Or the one who has a week target stand and it keeps falling down and he continually calls for a cold range. How about the guy who absolutely can't hit the broad side of a barn continually hits the barriers. Etc, Etc, Etc.

My area has only one private range but someone has to die or quit for a membership to open and there is a long list to get in. I would gladly pay the price to gain membership to that club.

As it is the closest range to me is 40 miles away and it is a state park. There is no one there during the week to take charge and the rules are clear and concise but now one to enforce them. The range opens at nine and I am there by 7:15 to make sure I can get the bench where no one is to my left. That solves the hot brass problem but everything else is still there to annoy and disrupt concentration.

Last week, a gang of four showed up with one of those huge road signs on a fold-able stands. You know what I talking about. Road workers ahead, use caution.

Would I pay $400.00 for range privileges? You bet your backside I would. Maybe even twice that much if it was really a great club.

My club has 100 yard max and we get 150.00 a year for it. Most Central Florida clubs are in the 250-350 a year range I think. A club 60 minutes north of me has an 850 yard range, but it's 40.00 a day for shooting anything...pistol, rifles and shotguns (sporting clays or 5 stand)
