How much would you pay for a good gun club membership?

I was in one club that was $260 per year and they had pistol and rifle out to 200 yards. Problem with that club was "unlimited guests" so one guy would get a bunch of his buddys to chip in to buy one membership then they would all come and bring coolers full of food and drinks and take the benches all day. I dropped out for that reason alone (they have since changed that rule)
The club I'm currently in has outdoor pistol and rifle to 300 yards and indoor pistol (22 rifle) to 50ft. Cost is $120 per year if you buy access to both indoor and outdoor. All of the clubs with long range (600+ yards) is just too far away to make joining worth the expense.

How many shooters have more than a few long range choices within a 50-70 radius? I feel fortunate that there are two ranges in North TX with multiple concrete benches that offer 500yd targets. One, has a 1000yd option for select/qualified members. Both require membership to join. I feel blessed that I can easily drive to either range within an hour. Being retired, I shoot 2-3 days a week & still complete the frequent honey-do list.

Here where I live in Central PA. I live 1.5 hrs from 3 1000 yard ranges 2 300 yard ranges. 3 of these ranges are less than one hour from the house. 2 are 20 min. or less. The one 300 yard range is Wiekert where they shoot the short range nationals, a very nice range.

I figured this thread was dead after starting it more than a year ago. Happy to see that it has been revived. Some of your posts have given me an idea about how to start a local range, so I don't have to commute anymore.
