So I took my Sako 22 PPCs to the range today only to find out that a Harris bi-pod will not work with the factory sling stud in the forend of the Sako stock. Yep, believe it or not they are .025 - .030 bigger than all the other sling studs I own. The Harris bipod will go over the stud but the stud is too wide to let the bipod tighten down on the stock. The problem is that the Sako studs are threaded into the wood stock. What I would like to do is put a machine thread escutcheon on the inside of the forend on both guns and use a standard machine thread sling stud. This would make the sling stud easily removable if I want to shoot off a rest and the standard stud would fit the bipods. BUT would changing the sling stud de-value the gun?
