How many of us (Americans) reload?

If you are the type of person to jump headfirst into a hobby and spend a ton of money in expensive stuff, this is not a good time. If you ease into things, buying slowly and deliberately, you carry less risk in the long term.

Also, scale your involvement with your means. I would love to spend 1000x more than I do, but those dollars I do spend are "sunk cost" in my mind. If I ever worry about 1) spending too much or 2) recouping money spent, I will quit as the enjoyment is gone.

Amen brutha'!!!
I, unfortunately, was one of those that jumped headfirst into this hobby.
I had shot a lot of guns in my day but never owned one until not long ago.
Fortunately I have the means to get "stupid" regarding this hobby...kinda sorta.
I started off with a $200 investment and now it's become $50,000 investment and growing!
And I don't even buy the best of the best! I just buy some pretty decent stuff and by stuff I mean everything associated with this hobby (obsession really).
I haven't regretted a moment but I do need to lighten up. I have a file cabinet full of just about every receipt on everything I've spent!! Afraid to look at it!
As for recouping? Naw, faggitabowit!

I would say the percentage that reload is pretty small, maybe 2%. If components were more plentiful it might be higher.

Kimbers's are nice, real nice. But they are like that $500.00 bipod......
I know! I just always wanted a 1911 45ACP and it has proven to be a very nice gun indeed but I think Kimber has a pretty high opinion of themselves and you pay for that opinion.
I don't regret buying it at the price I paid but I doubt I'll be buying any more any time soon.
