How many have shot 1mile

That

Dillon range is pretty sweet. We can do it at the Butte Gun Club if we set up in the right spot. 300 win with 215's will do it, 260 with 140's will get you there, my 25 with 135's did it as well. But...... shooting at 5800 feet ASL makes it a little easier.
You cant do it at the Dillon range, it only goes to 1k. 1500ish up the hill but your actually on BLM at that point. But theres plenty of public spots to shoot as far as you want.

One word... Humbling. Those that have shot a mile or more that haven't actually worked up to that range put their heads down in a moment of defeat. When it takes many people more ammunition than they have with them and still can't hit the target, it has a way of knocking people off their throne. It did me back when I hadn't shot over 600 yards and went out to 1500 yards with a 260 Remington with 139 scenars. Wind was a bit stiff and not seeing impacts made it very difficult and depressing. Eventually I built better guns and went up gradually learning the gun and conditions. No expert at all and I'm not a competitor either but eventually slowly made it happen. Found a good clear cut here that reads 1890 on my rangefinder and consistently hitting a 24"x36" steel plate. When wind is up, it's a bit tougher but not too bad. Love to find 2500 but won't happen in my state.

Does it count if it is 25mm or larger? LOL What about if the barrel is gyroscopticaly stabilized. LOL.... What if it is a deer on a Red Cloud Range with thermal sights????

Checked off a bucket list item last summer. It was windy and it took about 3-4 to get dialed in. It was a blast. Note: The bottom left two impacts were consecutive shots taken by a fellow shooter not me.

That is one serious looking target! About the size I would need! Lol.

I got my first custom rifle ten years ago in 6.5x47. Day before a match at Bang Steel the conditions were nice and they helped me walk it onto the mile target, using all of the scope adjustment and reticle. Early this year I rebarreled my 300WM Tikka hunter for the mile, but I haven't even shot it yet and will probably just sell it.

I have read about people shooting at 1mile. Just wondering how many here have and what did you accomplish it with. I doubt I ever get the chance but if I do I would to be some what prepared
I have and I’ve accomplished nothing with it. I’m never going to have any need to hit anything at that distance and the F class game is already too expensive for us, without thinking about entering in the your ridiculous ELR game.

Shot at just over a mile with 6.5x47 Lapua using 140 Hybrids. I’ve shot out to 2,000 yds with .300 Win Mag using 215 Hybrids. Also with a .338 Lapua using 300gr Scenars.
