How far is too far for a 22lr revolver?

It was lightened at factory to meet weight class. I stopped shooting silhouette before these came out.

I had a 10" Contender I could hit beer cans full of water at a 100 yards easily with iron sights. Never underestimate a .22 LR. Scoped ,wind or breeze it became harder at 200 yards but it was doable when you got the dope right.

Did you build that rest? It is a very nice set up and really good shooting.
Yes, I made the scope mount first. A bit later I made a second mount with either a 30moa or 40moa increase and ears extending out to start cobbing a way to add a bipod without affecting the barrel or reloading. Later I added the rear section to add an adjustable mono-pod. The gun shot well enough to keep improving the shooting platform. Not quite as good as my Exemplar but way better than most think a 22 revolver should.

the FA 252 are known for outstanding accuracy! These are groups I shot in My pre-production 22lr with a Leupold 6.5x20 scope installed. when I got it in 1990. problem I have though is most of this ammo is no longer made!

One of the most fun times I ever had handgunning was shooting my 45 Colt Bisley at 4x8 500 yard target board with open sights BR style....35+ years ago.

Surprised me how easy it was after you zeroed in on the position to put the rear sight on the front blade.

I always meant to cut a reference line on the blade for that....but alas another project long forgotten.

Reminded me of Elmer Keith..... although far from his "in your boot top, rear prone style".

Standing offhand with a 4" S&W 34, I always practice trying to hit swingers at 100. If something is off with my technique, it becomes glaringly apparent as target distance increases....good way to build muscle memory.

I always enjoy shooting my Freedom Arms 22s. A Silhouette model and a model 97. I cant even call them plinkers.

I have not shot my silhouette model past 220 yards, but hitting coke can sized targets and clay birds is easy with decent ammo.

Old saying the FA 252 was the only gun you could actually shoot a four gun aggregates with and win the match. They are actually that accurate and if you can shoot a revolver that well, you can give the production single shots and unlimited gun shooters a run for their money.

I found a Ruger NR 9 that would shoot near as well, usually about one target off the 252 on a 60 or 80 round match. The Ruger simply did not have the sights setup that the 252 had, that you could not overcome when shooting irons.

Any time we had small bore shooters come to the US for international competition they would usually have a FA 252 purchase waiting for them, to carry home when they left.

One of the few revolvers that could use the Federal Ultra Mach ammo to its full potential. Shooting 1" at 200 meters is easy with the 252.
