Thanks everyone, glad that you guys found the story interesting- it was mind blowing for me (a manual machinist) to see what they do, and to get to know Bruce and Daryle. Top-notch outfit for sure...
I'm guessing you meant 18TPI. Rems are 16 TPI, The Bats are 18. The awesome VR actions are cut for roughly a Remington footprint but only drop into open inlets like the HS, new McMillan universal inlet, and many of the chassis designs. The bolt handle is straight and the integral recoil lug is wider than the factory sandwich lug, so many stocks require minor inletting. Any way you get there, you won't be disappointed. Paying the extra for Melonite or DLC is also worth it. They make the action feel slicker and protect the bolt lugs against galling.I just got a mod VR to my Smith last week, got tired of not having a small caliber hunting rig, fits perfectly in an H&S stock that I had a Remington in, even hooked up perfectly with the H&S bottom metal. Also uses a Remington style Jewel trigger minus the bolt release, John
Uses 16 TPI and has a built in recoil lug, not the same as Remington. You'll have to have a new barrel or cut yours off and rechamber...need to make clear, the recoil lug works fine but the barrel threads are different..
Yep, as usual I got things bassakards, thanks for straightening me out, JohnI'm guessing you meant 18TPI. Rems are 16 TPI, The Bats are 18.
