How about those Contender/Encore hunters?

S-14 .30 Herrett.....10X Burris.....Redfield mount..... 130 Speer HP.....IMR 4227
150 yd. shot rested off a fence post top with small sandbag, not bipod. Through the lungs, stumbled a bit and dropped right there.

Fantastic site! About time. We handgun hunters are the Rodney Dangerfield of hunters/gunners. We can keep up with the rifle guys. Here's proof.003.JPG
I'll get it started with my best 2 Encore kills. "Big Boy" full blown charge, 12 yds.!!, SSK .416 Talor, 400 gr. Shot002.JPG right betwixed the eyes. "Little Boy", SCI #4, 475#, full blown charge, 20 yds., DRT!!, .416 Taylor, special made lead "ballistic tip", 400 gr

lol, I have not perfected my 480 shot loads yet. Need to get back on it. Primers were backing out and locking stuff up. May need to drill flash hole. Turned the rim down on the short 45-70’s hornady puts out.
Y all chuckling about that, look at them claws! Should have propped his mouth open to see his “tusk”. Now ya got me chuckling.

Good to see some names up here from places and years past.
Best to all of ya in the new year.

Doc, I know it was a XP but we need a picture of the hippo with a hole in his head.

I shoot Benchrest frequently and enjoy it but when we have a fun shoot I enjoy plinking with a good revolver. Grew up with Smith & Wesson revolvers and my favorite 22 is my Smith M17, 6" barrel. A full size gun with good adjustable sights. Recently I was at the gunstore and the Colt King Cobra 22 Target that I have been eyeballing for over a year, well it followed me home!

Lets start with Contenders I still have:
Contender 22 LR Practice and Trigger Time. Burris 2-7 Handgun Scope
G2 6.5x30 JDJ Super 14 has Burris 2-7 Handgun Scope
G2 35 BullBerry 14" 2-7 Burris Handgun Scope & 357 Maximum 14" MGM 4X Leupold Handgun scope.
SSK50 223 originally had an old 5X Burris Handgun scope with Target Turrets, which I replaced with a new 2-7 Burris Handgun Scope. Much brighter scope.

Contender Had at One Time List:
375JDJ
7-30
6TCU
6BullBerry Imp.

CVA Handguns:
357 Maximum rechambered by White, has Harrell's 3 Gill Muzzle Brake. For glass it currently has a 30mm Match Dot. I need to get a Burris 2-7 Scout Scope on it. It is way too accurate for a Red Dot.
Optima V2 50 Cal Muzzle Loader with a 3 Gill Muzzle Brake. Glass is a 2-7X Vortex Scout Scope. It is serious medicine with Hornady 290 grain Bore Driver FTX Bullets and around 75 Grains (By Weight) of Triple 7-2F.

Encore Have Had List:
260 Rem
7.62x54R
356 Win
223 Rem

Moved all four Encores and replaced them with the TWO Nosler M48's. Totally Happy with the M48's.

Nosler M48
22 Nosler has Weaver Classic Extreme 8-32X-50mm SF Scope. It drives tacks.

6.5CM has Weaver Classic Extreme 2.5-10X-50mm SF Scope.
Both have Black Metal with Three Color Camo Stocks done my Mr Smith at Hunts Long Range Gun Shop. The 22 Nosler has a Fluted Barrel. Both have 4 Gill Harrell's Muzzle Brakes.
A STORY: The Nosler M48 chambered in 22 Nosler came out of an estate new and unfired. The Metal was Bright White and the Stock was Bright Orange. It was listed on Gun Broker. The seller told me that the owner had ordered it to match a sports car he owned. The first thing that I did was to check with Ryan Hunt @ Hunts Long Range, my gunsmith to make 100% sure that he could refinish the stock and barrel to a color combination that I was not embarrassed to be seen with. He said he could refinished it, so I bid and bought it. The 3 Color Camo Stock on the 22 Nosler looked so good that I had the 6.5CM M48 stock refinished to match the 22 Nosler. To start with I wished that the 22 Nosler was chambered in 223. However after firing it a little it is stupid accurate with the 8-32 scope. All the bad press that the 22 Nosler Cartridge gets is pretty much AR15 related. It works very well with no issues in the M48 Handgun. I like it just fine as a 22 Nosler.

Revolvers Hunting:
9.5" Super RedHawk in 480 Ruger, it replaced my 7.5" Super RedHawk in 480 Ruger. It has a 30mm Match Dot on a Weigan Combat Scope Base. The Match Dot will not go between the Ruger Factory Rings.

Center Grip XP100 22LR Practice and Trigger Time Handgun. Very Likely the Second Center Grip XP100 Rimfire made that is factory marked Remington MODEL XP100.

Remington Custom Shop XP100 Rimfire Single Shot Action by Pacific Tool & Gage
Remington Full Bull (1") 40X Barrel 14" (New Very Old Stock)
Rockwell Laminated Stock in Nutmeg with 2" wide sandbag friendly forend, and also has the optional Extreme Duty Bipod Stud.
Dell Taylor Trigger may have some XP100 OEM and Dewey parts. The Gunsmith who was not an XP100 expert had some issues getting the original Trigger Parts to work. (Factory and Dewey) We ended up ordering a Dell Taylor Trigger.
The Scope is a Weaver Classic Extreme 2.5-10X-50mm SF, 30mm tube, same scope that I have on my Nosler M48 in 6.5CM.
Harris Bench Rest, Swivel, Notch Leg Bipod, with Pod Loc.

So many to work with, so little time.

Iowa Fox, here's the hippo. Don't know if the hole will show up very well, but it's the only hole in his body. 120 yds., .375/.284 XP, 260 gr. Barnes Solid. The PH was a little shocked that a handgun could do that. I wasn't. He's SCI handgun #11. I just looked at the pic. Can't really see the hole, but it's perfectly between his eyesDSCN2681.JPG
