House alarm systems????

I live in town and had a bunch of weird crap going on around my house from things going missing to having my loose change stolen from my truck ashtray several times. We even had some really huge hanging basket flowers stolen from hooks on our front porch once. It all stopped with a high dollar camera system hooked up to a DVR that backs up to the cloud and I can also monitor it from my cell phone at any time. My system will read license plates from a block away at night.

Most cameras can't do any such thing, as many of us have found out. Nice to know there are some that can.

If I might ask, what specs on those cameras, to allow such clarity? A particular make/model?

We have an unmonitored system from DSC. I’ve been think about upgrading to a system with cameras, but just I haven‘t taken the time to do the research. I do use a few trail cams around the property.

My experience is with game cameras and they miss a lot of action. Takes time for them to "wake up" when motion is detected. Do the Blink and Ring cameras have the same problem? There must be lag time for the camera to wake up and transmit a signal through WiFi to your phone and then there is lag time for your phone to ring. And, you would have to have a backup battery system for the WiFi and cameras if the power is cut. I know there are battery powered cameras, but it seems like they would be the same as a game camera, slow to respond. If the bad guy moves quickly the camera reports nothing? But I guess you still get an alert.

I have Ring with multiple cameras and sensors on the whole lower floor. I think it would be very difficult to beat Ring’s ease of use or the quality of their cams. Everything for the install was plug and play, the outdoor cams work well in all weather.

All cams have 2 way talk. It’s very reassuring to be able to check in on the place back in the day when we could actually go someplace…

For the price of the monitored service with unlimited cloud recording, it’s hard to beat Ring. I like the idea that if the alarm goes off and I”m not able to check in, somebody is going to get the call.

plenty .... one commercial, 5 dvrs with 36 cameras and HUGE infrared lights , 2 dogs and a retired security guard that lives on property. Will not get specific as if the wrong person reads this he would know how to quickly overide or block wireless security systems . Yes mine are securide hardwired . A $30 device can render wireless security cameras useless .

Insure each gun for full value. Have a dog or two. Put up signs "Beware Of Dog." The dog signs work, even if you dont own a dog.

When a smart ass asks, "wheres the dog?" Answer "Wife took it to vet to have teeth sharpened. " ;)

Thieves kick door, grab stuff. Gone in 5 or 10 minutes. Low priority for cops. Alarm company even slower. Most not smart enought to find your property.

Play possum, lay in wait with your shotgun. You should see there supprise in the dark when the flash light beam hits there eyes. o_O

More so if your a gun dealer. Dont ask how i know.

ADT no bueno. Their cameras are pretty crappy. The Techs that have been out I don't know how many times even admit they don't even install ADT cameras anymore. They have gone to the Google cameras. When I get rid of the ADT I'll look into the Ring or Simply Safe.

Canary.

Indoor and outdoor cameras detect, show video, store video and alert us to movement. We can sound sirens, talk or shout to anyone detected and one touch calls police.

$10 a month.

Simply safe are on the boycott list (left wing commies). I have nest and its great although google are commies too. Nest didnt publicly call for disarming the citizens though. So soon folks forget about companies like simpli safe, yeti, hertz, even sierra bullets pulled the nra link off their homepage after the non NRA member shot up the florida school. How about delta and their georgia fuel tax break when they acted a fool and caved into antifa. Do your research!

We have had simply safe for a very long time.... I plan on moving in 6 months and like their system so much I have already bought their 2nd generation system for my new place.... Still in the box and ready to install.... So easy to do a child could install it in an hour or so... I build my own system instead of just ordering one of their box systems because I want what I want in each room.... Just FYI don't install all the signs in the yard to let someone know what they need to bring to disable it.... Get a smoke detector it's awesome to let you know there could be a problem....

Yep, I have a box full of simpli safe equipment that got unhooked and boxed up when that happened.

Dogs are great but one or two shots and that threat is eliminated, where I live once they get in they could stay hours if I am gone and Laying with my shotgun only works if I am there. No one would think twice about hearing a couple shots coming from my place either. I need eyes and motion that alert me as well as others when we are gone, plus fire and flood. I have all of this in the system I have now and am mostly happy except for the outdoor cameras. The response time to call once the alarm has been triggered is very fast with this alarm as well. The customer service about the problem with the outdoor cameras is what has me looking elsewhere.

Troy has it gotten that bad there?
I remember we never locked our doors day or night.

There are a couple of non working guys who walk the road and seem to live in the park, always carrying backpacks. One tried to get into a neighbor’s house, neighbor fired a shot but missed him. I am just trying to be proactive. But it’s definitely not like when you and I grew up around here that’s for sure. It’s sad it’s not.
