New use for security cameras

Oh man, I'm so glad this came up. I'm very happy to hear I'm not the only one who spends so much of my fixing/reloading time searching for stuff I left elsewhere!

You always find your missing stuff the last place you look.
Losing things is the reason that I developed a compulsion for neatness. For the past few years as a house husband, I have learned to hate clutter and make regular and multiple trips to the dump. Regarding my tools and other gear, there is a place for everything and every thing is in its place. When I go on a hunt for lost items, I feel my blood pressure climbing.

I bought a security camera system and had more cameras then I had positions for. I decided to put a camera inside the garage where I do all my reloading and smithing work. Was working on something the other day and “lost” a tool I was using. Pulling out my hair and scrambling my brain ... heavy frustration set in. Then the idea hit me, I went to the replay (LOL). I accessed the garage camera and played back what I had been doing that morning and sure enough the tool was right where the camera showed it to be. I might need more cameras for inside the house and further searches. LOL

So last summer, my daughter was doing an internship at a church. As part of the internship, housing was provided by a family who belonged to the church. We took her because we were concerned and wanted to meet the family. They couldn't have been any nicer and had a beautiful home in an upscale neighborhood outside Washington DC. As we visited that evening, the conversation turned to work. Both of them had government jobs. He works as a private contractor and was rather secretive about his role but said it involved National Security. Anyway they were showing us how Nicole would need to enter the home and how to access the security system. She went on to show the security camera monitor and said the following:

"All the cameras are outside, we will never have cameras in our home. I can't tell you why, but we will never have them."

They work for the government and don't trust "private" cameras in their own home. I'm not a conspiracy theorist but this did give me pause.

Dave.

Because most camera systems even wired one use some form of the internet to access or view them on our phones and such. WIFI and internet can be hacked and strangers can look into your life and all your doing. Somehow, and i'm still not sure to this day my WIFI got access to a neighbors printer and their baby camera. I could see everything going on in their baby room at any time. Could only bring it to their attention when they printed off concert tickets and they came through on my printer? Then I had their name to tell them what was going on and they got it fixed asap.

No we don't, I think we have Siri, Alexa and Google doing those chores really well. Ever just say "I need to look for a new car" and all of a sudden everything you open on your computer is advertising "new cars"??
