House alarm systems????

Wondering what house security systems yall are using and the pros and cons of them.
I want a full indoor system with “good” outdoor cameras. I currently have a cove system and I am not a fan at all. I have cell service and wi-fi at my location as well. Thanks for any replies.

Hard to beat Ring. Battery backup, wifi with cell phone backup. Cameras are great and can also tie in smart lighting, key coded door locks, smoke detectors, flood sensors, motion detectors, door and window contacts, HVAC thermostats, garage door openers, panic buttons, and a bunch of other things. It’s a lot more than just a security system.

I already had the ring system save my mechanical room from flooding when it alerted me of the presence of water. Went in and found the furnace condensate drain was backed up and leaking and was running onto the floor. Quick fix and an easy clean up because there was very little water on the floor before the ring sensor detected it. If it weren’t for that flood sensor it could have possibly been draining on the floor for days before I noticed it. I would have been replacing flooring and sheetrock for for sure and possibly having to deal with mold mitigation. But I was alerted immediately and no damage done at all.

I have had ADT for 20-years and back it up with a REVO Ultra HD IP camera system I can view on my phone anywhere by remotely logging on. the HD makes a lot of difference on picture quality.

I agree a good dog is also a great alarm and deterrent. I have a Shepherd/Malinois cross and it’s amazing what he will smell and hear long before we do. He can distinguish the specific sounds of different vehicles he knows and doesn’t know. Chased off a coyote one time that he smelled. I didn’t even know it was there until he had the yote running for dear life. And he’s great at keeping the property clear of the neighbors cats and other feral cats :)

I have a red heeler bitch that will light up if there is someone she doesn't know at or coming through the door. She's getting old and I need to start looking for a replacement, but for a rescue dog she's worth every penny I've spent on her for an early warning system.

I’ll look into adt and the revo system, sounds like a great addition.

I do love the Rottweilers, had one and he passed. The next dog was a 10 pound poodle mix, called her Mandi for Mandibles of Death! She thought she was Rottweiler and was a great watchdog for her size.

I strayed from the topic but I have a Ring alarm system plus other Ring cameras. It's slow sometimes but since I don't leave the house much and I live in a good area, I feel safe.

I live in town and had a bunch of weird crap going on around my house from things going missing to having my loose change stolen from my truck ashtray several times. We even had some really huge hanging basket flowers stolen from hooks on our front porch once. It all stopped with a high dollar camera system hooked up to a DVR that backs up to the cloud and I can also monitor it from my cell phone at any time. My system will read license plates from a block away at night.

ADT and our killer Golden Retriever ;)

My Son-In-Law lives next door to us with our 2 grandsons and swears by his "Ring" system

@ttfreestyle , locks only keep honest people honest, our bodyshop has been hit 3x's in 2 weeks. Screw security systems, security patrols, my suggestion to the boss is a well trained junk yard dog as far as fire and flood i suggest talking to your insurance agent. Fkn criminals seem to have more rights than honest folks these days.

We used ADT for years and upgraded to Vivint the end of last year it’s a much better system. I can control all the locks, thermostat etc etc in the house and view 7 camera’s plus the doorbell from anywhere I’ve got cell service.
We added the Ring along with the ADT prior to switching everything to Vivint and both of those two’s customer service if beyond horrible and don’t get me started trying to talk to those retards about a bill or service issue,, that’s a month long process for each question. I still haven’t been successful in getting the ADT canceled after 6 months, they suck!!

My recommendation is Vivint or a local alarm company if you have that option,

Simply Safe, three dogs, motion lights, and I have several of those inexpensive remote driveway alarms scattered around the property. Some are on trees in the yard that I painted to match the bark. Also have trail cameras here and there. It's a challenge to enter my property undetected.
