Hornady Click Adjustable Seater

Is it really that spendy compared to a Redding? Not saying Hornady is as good, but for the click adjustment ease and $25 for a seater plus the $80 for the top micro seems fair.

No it's not. I was going to say something about comparing prices but I didn't want to upset anyone. And the Hornady dies are not bad at all. I have the Match dies for my 6mm ARC and 6.5 Creed and they load very accurate ammo.

Has anyone tried one of these yet? It sure looks like a neat idea with the click adjustment. It only works with Hornady seaters, but you can buy a whole die set right now for around $44 and get a box of bullets for free on Hornady’s current rebate.
I have one and used it a lot. It's a very good, not great, product. However I have since bought an AMP press, so it has been retired.

Redding sells them, without the click, for often 1/2 that price. Different prices per cartridge.

(MidwayUSA sells them for $48.46 for 308 family, same for 6.5 Grendel)

I guess an extra $25 won't break the bank, but I've always had good luck with the Redding dies.

I have a couple of the Hornady without the clicks. They work great, but I often thought a 'click' model would be ideal. I was thrilled when they announced this model and will probably buy at least one.

Yeah, too spendy when the entire die customized with different internals cost a little more than half that. $40ish bucks, sure. $80, too much.
I’m going to have trouble turning loose of the cash too when I have perfectly good Forster benchrest seaters setting here. I thought one seemed kind of like a new toy to enjoy.

I'd like a micrometer stem for my Hornady die because I had to buy different internals to make a usable 6x250 seating die and not pay hundreds for a Redding or custom Wilson. Still don't want to pay that much even piece by piece.

Also you can buy just the micrometer assembly from Forester. So you can turn your forster non micrometer adjust benchrest dies into the full thing

Another option is the widden click adjustable lock ring. Can be used with all 7/8” dies. I use it for FL sizing and seating.

I have the click ring, Not really a fan in the setup I use it for. It's weakness is when using it coupled with a quick change die bushing. You have to back off the bushing before you can adjust the ring. And at that point you might as well just save a bunch of money and go with skips shims.

I'll admit that my ignorance played a part in my dissatisfaction. It wasn't until I had the click ring in hand and setup did I realize the flaw in my usage plan.
