Hornady brass

Well to be honest, he doesn't shoot enough, or good enough to know the difference either way, hence why he bought it. I told him I'd sell him some Lapua but he didn't want it.

I bought 1 bag of Hornady brass in my life. 280 Remington. Between the 50 cases, the weight spread was something like 20g. I threw them straight in the trash. There's no way I was using that junk, and I'd feel guilty for even giving it away.

The only Hornady brass I have ever shot much is in my .17 Hornet, for which there is no "premium" brass - like a lot of other cartridges that are not exactly commercial mainstream. Life is still good without Lapua being available for everything - but sure would be nice if it was.....

Have used Hornady in .204 Ruger, & All other brands of brass, most accurate loads in Hornady ,Long case life.Have cases I bought in 2008, loaded will over 20 times, still going.Friends don't let frends load Hornady brass, Especially when one gets Waxed by a shooter w/Hornady Brass lol

The 6.5 Creedmoor doesn't like it either.

When I got the rifle I got 100 Hornady brass, 1st firing I lost 4 to split necks, the 2nd firing I lost 5, the 3rd firing i lost 7 more.

Not worth the money, get Lapua brass.

I started annealing the H brass after the second firing. I anneal after every firing.

When I first started doing load development on my 6.5 Creedmoor, I originally started with once fired Hornady brass I had reclaimed after doing barrel break-in and initial testing with factory Hornady ammo. Never had problems with split necks, but my SD numbers were crazy high (mid teens and twenties). Quickly got off of that and swapped to Lapua brass. Been averaging SD's between 3 and 7 ever since. Same load, same equipment, same process.

Cant say i have had much trouble with hornady brass but i only used it in my 458 win mag and 454 casull. Its been good in those applications

How many rounds do you shoot in a session?:D
Lol depends what im working on but 6-12 usually when working new loads, and sometimes end up with multiple sessions verifying loads in different weather. And general practice to stay up on the recoil. It can be a workout lol i just recently put a brake on it however so that helps now.
The casull i dont shoot as much, i also have starline cases for it. I got a couple firings thru the 454 hornady brass i got from shooting factory ammo lol i tried to simulate the factory loadings with two different powders. So it had some development then i got starline new cases.
The 458 i probably have 4 firings on each case. Somewhere around that. Not full house loads so that may help life. Now that the brake is on, the loads have gotten abit hotter

I have had good luck with it in 204r and 6.5 creedmoor. I do have lapua on standby for my 6.5 creedmoor when the hornady tanks, but i just dont shoot it much anymore. Now some of my other cartridges get lapua or ADG.

Used it in my 25/06. Got appx 17 firings on each of the 50 cases. Had no problem , but certainly wouldn't put it in the class of Laupa or Norma. Worst brass I ever used was Nosler and I believe it was also the most expensive I have ever purchased. JME

I've only shot Hornady's 223 Rem brass in bolt rifles, several different lots now. I do not have any complaints but let me be clear on the context within that I am making this statement, I am speaking in the 1/2 to 5/8 moa targeted precision level.

In my experience, it's a good value for the hunter, even varmint hunter, and recreational shooter shooting in the sub 1 moa range.

A positive aspect of this brand is that in several different lots, I have found no defects rendering a case unusable. Whereas with Remington and especially Winchester, I seem to always encounter defective cases which I have to discard. However, even with the greater % of defectives in Winchester brass, I have always found it to be the more consistent and have gotten my best precision from these cases.

I have never used Lapua for my needs, but I understand it is the top of the line that most competitors select.

I competed for over 20 years in Highpower. I have thousands of Hornady cases to go along with thousands more of Winchester cases. I also have a few hundred Lapua .223 cases I used for the 600 yard prone stage. I saw zero improvement using Lapua brass at 600 yards vs. Winchester or Hornady brass. I just looked up the price for Lapua .223 brass. $81.99 per 100! That is nuts to spend that kind of money and not see any improvement in score. There's also the crying when you lose some of that pricey brass in the grass.

As has been mentioned before, Hornady needs to stick to making bullets. Period.

I agree. I absolutely love the V-Max line of bullets and the ELD-VT for my purposes. As for most other Hornady reloading things - be it presses, scales, tumblers, dies, etc. - they are all great for the masses - but.... Would be really something to see more American companies create an "upper line" of brass for many calibers, specifically for competition and long-life reloading - or for that matter, great home-grown match .22 rimfire ammo. Like Federal and Hornady "Match" brass - gimme a break.... These companies have the resources to make better - yet they choose to serve the masses instead. I don't know enough about statistical sales data from the likes of Lapua to know whether the actual demand is there to compete with them. I would guess not.
