Several years ago I built a 22-250 Ackley, & worked up a load with the 75 Amax running right at 3500. First coyote fold like a cheap lawn chair. I was impressed.
Number two was a real CF. Called him in to 210 yards, & he knew something wasn't right, so I took the shot, a quartering to me angle. After recovering from the shot, I saw him hauling ass out of Dodge. I knew I had hit him, so after gathering up my stuff, I walked to where he had been standing at the shot, & started to track him by flashlight. I made it about 125 yards to where his tracks led me to him under a downed tree he had crawled under. He was on his last breaths at that point, probably 45 minutes after the shot. I gave him one more to the back of the head.
I pulled the remaining Amax after that, and worked up a load with 75 Bergers instead, but ended up selling the gun before I could shoot anything else.
The bullet splashed on the shoulder, and luckily, a few pieces must have made it to the lungs. I wasn't impressed any more.....
