what can cause horizontal spreads when there is hardly no wind ? Would it need powder or depth seating change ?

Perfectly flat or a little diagonal and which way if so? Up and left is probably wind. Up and to the right is probably tune...assuming a rh twist bbl.

For me hardy no wind, means you can still feel it occasionally on your cheek. Feeling wind on face for me 3-4 mph, some people might be 5 mph which is 1/2 value. At my range, wind on and off, usually results in cross winds from 50 yards in front of bench to the target.

If you have your action and bottom metal 100% bedded then you can diagnose the problem. If the metal is just loose, well it may be myrid of problems.

If walking or stringing the impact point horizontal, it is usually the stock touching the barrel at the side, so as the barrel heats up, the barrel walks away from the stock contact. Black the barrel and reset the action in the stock, the barrel will make a black mark on any high place. Make sure the action screws are tight.

O'Connor is said to have said that he would put a NY City phone book under his barrel if it would fit. Never too much free float space.

The bench rest guys adjust seating depth for horizontal. Vertical is charge weight adjustment. Ut works fir me too.

Seen it with loose action screws.

I've seen it with slightly loose bases. I mean you couldn't feel it by hand, but the screws were loose under the scope just enough allow movement.

Canting the stock. Easily minimized via a scope level.
