I am looking to get outdoor security cameras that use CAT-5 cable for POE.

What do you have that are happy with the system and their customer support?

TIA

Most the camera systems out there, Your video runs through the company’s servers giving them access and sometimes ownership of your footage. The Unifi or ubiquiti mentioned above, the footage is privately stored on your own personal network, not through some company’s servers. And it is a USA company. You can also design your system based on your needs. You don’t buy a preset package

The Ubiquiti stuff is surprisingly good. I have cameras so I can keep an eye on my driveway, deliveries, animals, etc. And a property with obvious cameras should be a decent deterrent from anyone being stupid... Not as good as a livestock guardian dog, however.

I have a frankensystem, most Dhaua cams running Blueiris on a dedicated desktop. Can connect pretty much any ip cam. Ipcamtalk . Com was a great resource when I was getting up to speed.

A couple suggestions that are more general than specific...

1)-Cloud based storage is preferrable to an on-site recorder. If a crime is committed, the recorder is typically taken or smashed beyond operability.
2)-Keep all telecom conductors out of reach. Either high or underground. They will cut them. At the pole too.
3)-If you have to store your ladder outdoors, chain it up.
4)-If you choose a video system, at least one camera should be a license plate reader type (capable).
5)-Security lighting is beneficial. Cameras generally don't work well in low light.

There may be more, but that is what I can think of at the moment. This situation has parallels to the security of a gun safe. In other words even the strongest system can be defeated or circumvented. Just gotta do your best, and what is affordable.

Best Regards, Peter.

I worked in the industry Flir cameras was 90% of our market , very expensive. Todays Residential market has some very good cameras DVR format can get a little rough for some and of course price point drives users.

I have Amcrest system. Allows me to keep eyes on the property and it has local recording, but the system is acting up and AMCREST customer service, is crappier than crap.

Thanks for the recommendations. I will look into them.

We have a Guardian Alarm system. It comes with motion-activated indoor cameras and allows me to watch footage from anywhere in the mobile app. I also can receive personalized alerts. You can call guardian alarm customer service to find out the details if interested or have questions.
