Home made case annealer

I've read about this annealer and am quite impressed, curious if anyone is making them and selling on this site. I'm not sure I want to build one but would be interested if anyone has one to sell. Rick

I did read (Skip from Australia) posted this information to help out fellow shooters, his hope was this information stay free and would not like to see others profit from it..
That was my take on the post I was reading on another forum. ( my interpretation of what he said, please do not quote me).
For what it's worth.

This is great! I have always needed something to make this annealing task more consistent. Thank you for sharing your build and posting your build sheet. If you or anyone is open to a question, I have one. Understand I try very hard to avoid electronics and IT stuff, so this one is simple.

About the DC Power Source – What Amp do I need, And I’m assuming that only one power source is required, please confirm. Thanks again!

I'm running a Mean Well 8.5 amp switching power supply that has dual outputs on my annealer. If you order the motor speed controlers on ebay they ship from China, expect a delayed delivery.

I believe you can take a power supply out of an old computer. I believe I read that somewhere on a site. You will still have too buy the motors and controls. Matt

I'll try to answer several questions posted for me in this reply.

Look HERE for complete information on the Skip design annealer including plans, parts sources etc.
As far as a link to the case counter, I don't have one handy but a search on Ebay will reveal all. You can look it up as easily as I can.
Yes, it will work on a Dasher. I switch between .223 and 6mm BR in a few seconds by slipping a small copper shim on the case stop rod.
The numbers indicate the duty cycle of the motors, NOT the annealing time.
HERE is another link to information on the Skip design from Skip himself.

well looks like a fun project to keep me busy for a while so now i need to build one or two while im at it haha

Question for you guys that have the Skip's design of case annealer,

Will Rimmed cases, i.e., 22 Hornet and 30/30 cases work in this design?

Tia,
Don

Yes , the down loadable direction tell you how to handle that issue..very simple..enjoy..make one there fun

Bobcat 93

Thank you for the info,
Now that the Brown Santa truck just delivered my new table top plastic box I'll reread all the post etc,
kinda hard to use the I pad for that stuff.

Now, I have to start building one to handle everything from 17 Hornet to 7 Mag cases

FYI, I was able to buy all the parts on the list except the motor on Amazon without the slow boat wait for few more bucks more. I am going to try to use a motor from an old cordless drill or a rc car motor as a substitute. Hopefully, it'll work.

A motor without a reduction gearbox will give you speeds high enough for entertainment, but not slow enough for annealing.

I bought my motors from Amazon - I got a 12 volt 14 rpm gear motor. I run the motors at ~45% for Lapua brass for the 284 and 6 Dasher.

Hello forum,
I was wanted to share some info on the case annealer i just made.
Maybe this info is new to you, maybe not.
I was looking around the internet one evening and stumbled along this thread in another forum. Then I found videos on YouTube.
(Skips prototype case annealer)

If you would like to build one there are directions, and a matieral list that you can download and print out.
I will post a link for instructions, and a link to the video of mine in use.
The direction say the project can be built for 75$ , I'm pretty cheap and it cost me 110$.
Also I copied this project .
So many, many thanks to (Skip from Australia) for posting this info and making it public knowledge.

Again..thank you Skip!
I was trying to share this little modification with skip but couldn't find where to share it so if you could pass it on that would be awesome... what we did, Instead of cutting depth of pan to match case size we need, we cut a spacer that we can either remove for larger magnum cases or put flat washers behind to make it fit for smaller cases

I been trying to find out how to share this with skips so he could pass it on to anyone that's interested it's a what I think a neat little modification my dad and I made to the drum so that we can use it with virtually any size case. What we did was made a spacer and then that spacer can either be removed to do very large cases like 30 ought 6 or Magnum cases or you can put flat washers behind it to make it less deep to do smaller cases.

when you use the insert you simply adjust your feed trough also out maybe a half inch also, this can be done with washers or if you have the trough set with locknuts, I use different pans and adjust the spindle in and out that rotates the pan. If this makes any sense

I was contemplating a wood insert also few months back instead of swapping pans, it's a great idea nice work
