Hodgdon aquires RCBS

This is true, but there are certain companies and manufacturers who are increasing at rates that are not helping their images with customers. We all decide how much our personal market of one will bear on price increases. I vote with my wallet. I no longer support Hodgdon or Alliant.
I still purchase plenty of Hodgdon and Alliant - errrrr Hercules powders. Sometimes they're twenty or forty years old though. I think the price tag on that Red Dot says $2.50. Got all five of these - full cans - for $100 US dollars just last Sunday. Old Codger Powder Supply. :D

While Hodgon owns the powder "Brand Names" they manufacture no powder and
appear to have contracts with various powder manufactures to be the exclusive distributor in the US.

That can easily change if another player steps into the game and say they become the
distributor for ADI powders in the US, Hodgon may loose the entire ADI line.
While the trademark name Varget or H4350 cannot be used a new destributor can call it anything else.

RCBS on the other hand is a manufacture with 100% control of their product.

Manufacturers raise prices because they can. Hodgdon goal is to recover the RCBS purchase price as fast they can. You can bet there will be either a product price increase, change in availability or quality reduction. The 'goal' of all companies is to make profit, it is not to make friends.

They could also implement structural and process reorganization to improve quality, output, and profits at no cost to the customer. It isn’t always a gut job and RCBS isn’t the same as it was decades ago. There’s a lot of ground that could be made up in a lot of areas.

Hodgdon may have bit off more than it can chew this time. Wait until the tyrants start passing laws against reloaders. You will soon have to have a license an permits. Never say never, because it IS, going to happen.
