High Prices Thread -- Vent Your Frustration

One needs to consider 3 things in regards to prices. The recent price increases in brass, copper and transportation. Don't see any of that changing in the near future.

Drive to Kansas and buy Vihtavuori "N" powder for 200 bucks an 8 lb. jug!

Maybe not in your favor but that 257 Bob ammo is scarce and in great demand by the quarter-bore clan.
BTW, just think of how many times you have read or heard "Take a 30-06 on your (insert animal here) hunt because you can buy ammo at any Mom & Pop store even in the backwoods".
IIRC, I recently read a statement from Hodgdon saying they had no MSRP and no MAP pricing so vendors sold at what the market would bear. Also, they have started "selling" powder online through their website. How can you not sett MSRP but sell at set prices on your own website?
Everything about gun ownership and shooting is in flux. The LGS owner, large and small, is fighting for their existence and, instead of complaining and calling them out, maybe we should just stand with them and behind them.

I like owners that dont gouge there customers. I understand paying more if they did to get it. I have gotten some stuff at sportsman's over last few months. There prices have not gone up much. I paid 3 dollars more for 1 lb of powder. The place i normally get it from is at $50 for that same pound. I know they need to make a buck, but i will remember that when things come back around.

Speaking of outfits not gouging customers, Graf's had some Shooters World AR powder in stock earlier this morning for $21 and change a pound.....kudos Graf's!

Powder seems to be relatively easy to get online. Sign up for notices and within a few days the powder you want will probably come up.

Who is "in the driver's seat? It is not the LGS for sure. As someone who worked in the firearms industry during two Obama era periods much like this one I can tell you the LGS is certainly not driving anything. Especially the smaller shops. Even the distributors are not getting what they need for it to trickle down into the shops.
It's funny, but at the height of the previous shortages, dealers would ask me how to get product and what to try to get. Two pieces of advice; if you can look around your shop and see certain firearm brands or models then quit carrying those. Dump them and spend those $$ on stuff that does sell, even if you don't like that stuff. Also, quite being a "one to show and one to go" dealer. Keep a backstock of core products. When a sale presents itself you want to capture the sale instead of saying "I can get you one tomorrow".

Scored some Remington .22 LR and some 230 grain .45 acp plated bullets at Sportsman's yesterday. The .22s came out at $3.39 per 50. The HSM bullets were $43 for 250. I can live with those prices.

The current state of affairs has not curtailed my shooting or Handloading. Been through this twice before, and expected the same to occur prior to the recent election cycle.
I have been buying modest amounts of component bullets, primers, propellant and loaded ammo (particularly .22 LR) since the 2016 election. Only spent more than $40 per week on two occasions and that was to buy a couple of 1K round cases of 5.56 M193 for the shop’s $340 asking price.
Still haven’t had to open them due in part to the large amount of Handloads I’m still working through.
Many in my circle have been doing the same, and we trade amongst each other to balance our needs/wants.

will no buy from gougers . 175 for 1000 primers.
50$ and up for 9mm ammo , 100$ for 525 22lr
they lost me they can keep it.

$175 for primers seems like the going rate. A member on this site offered to sell me his primers for $300 / 1K. And that's for a local sale!

Just an observation, ... guy on "local" sellsite Zidaho has 8 lbs H1000 for $1,000 and 5 lbs Retumbo for $1,000!

Average home prices here, depending on the source, varies from #795.000.00 to $841.000.00 over the past year, and in spite of the mass exodus from California, the prices have increased 9.7% over the past 12 months.

It's not so much that prices are high - but part of the problem is that the dollar is not worth as much as it used to be. And it should be worth less tomorrow.
