High power target sticker manufacture - need contact info

I have been using some stick on target centers that replace the X-10 ring on high power targets. We use them when a shooter blows out a spindle and the target is temporarily wrecked. The sticker is a quick fix until after the relay is done. Unfortunately, I have lost the gentleman's name and contact info. I think it was Mr James maybe out of AK or MO? Maybe? Anyone have this guys info they could share with me?

Thanks,

JW

Quick fix repair centers

My experience is that F-class repair centers are either too big or too small. The official repair center is too big and the little 6"x6" stickies are too small. I'd like to find one about 10"x10" or 12"x12". Even something printed on 8.5"x11" in landscape mode would be good.

I think he was considering or may have that now, but they will cost much more than what's practical compared to more needed X ring repair. Call and ask him. We discussed the same a few years ago was last time I ordered them.

I have purchased 8.5" X 11" from Mr. James. I don't remember the price but I thought it was reasonable. I received an email a week or two ago from the NRA stating that a smaller 600 yard F-class repair center was approved at the annual committee meeting last fall, but haven't received the details of what was approved.

Pretty sure we used them at Berger SW Nationals for midrange. I just can't find them for sale online. They were smaller than the full center, and had an official NRA seal on them.

I belve that what you are talking about can be gotten from National target ou of denver co. Or they may be alviable from american target out of Marlyand doint know there adresses but you can google them up, but you will have to explain what you want I doint know what there #s are but they are able to get.

I have a rules question on this one. I think I know the answer but here goes.

Assuming it is an appropriately sanctioned NRA match you can't shoot a record on anything but an officially sanctioned target. So using unofficial repair centers at the start of a match is defilitely a no-no, but what about during a match for repair as described in the original post? I've used black duct tape to fix blowouts, so I'd think the centers would be OK; however, I'd hate to be the MD who had to tell a shooter his record wasn't recognized because we used a non-approved adhesive center.

Something to get an answer on before hand I think.

I've thought for several yrs now that a self adhesive 10-ring sized center would be the cats meow for mid range F class.

Wade, they are not approved unless that's changed. Handy yes indeed, but l haven't seen it in writing yet. They do appear brighter on the target from the firing line compared to the paper last time we used them so that may have some bearing on approval. We switched over to coraplastic center repairs and the target down problem went away for the most part.

At the club shoot yesterday I noticed that they were using exactly what my earlier post suggested, a stick-on center about 8"x10" in "landscape" mode. I asked where they got them and was told "A guy in Arkansas." I forgot to pursue the question further.

It looks like they have been approved(look at rule 4 Targets) but I am unable to find them anywhere. Speculation is that the A at the end of the number is for "adhesive".

OK, I just talked to him. He is the only source so you won't find his stuff at another target supplier. Mr James says they are NRA OK only at approved matches but not at registered matches. He will call me with a price list tomorrow and I will post it for him.

I have been involved in National Records, and they must be fired on official targets/centers, with the NRA seal. I have had some 300 yard centers made up in orange, and I had to get approval from the NRA HP to use their copyrighted target centers and have new plates made up without the NRA seal and they can only be used for practice and non-NRA matches. The target company required the permission from the NRA before they started on them. Also, many people don't realize that the scores have to be fired in a NRA Registered match, by an NRA member also, if the score is fired in an Approved match it is not eligible for the National Records.
