Henry Rifles, "Go or Show"?

Don't have a Henry, been eye-balling them for a number of years, but have decided that my two Winchester 94/22's do all I want for rimfire lever guns, and my Winchester/Miroku M1892 and JM Marlin 1894 in 44 Mags do all I want or need for 'big-bore' lever guns.

The Miroku Winnie M92 is fit and finished like a custom rifle. That factory really knows how to put a shotgun or rifle together IMHO.

The Henry president really extols the virtues of his rifles being all made in the USA with all US materials. That's fine and dandy, but a close examination of the Miroku/Winchester M92 might be of benefit to him for future consideration.
gimme those winnies!

I bought a .357 big loop steel boy several years ago. Put about 100 rounds through it, right about the time my cataracts started getting really bad. Couldn't see the irons so I bought the scope base, that's about as far as it's got! :)

Rem06, I might be willing to let it go.

i went with the twin. 38/357 Big Boy

is Flitz ok to use on the brass? i assume it is brass not just electroplated?

as Flitz is NOT for elextroplated brassScreenshot_20240204_172847_Gallery.jpg

Big Boy 44 mag is my favorite shooter Big loop, American Walnut Octagon barrel , I also have the All Weather 45-70 . Kicks like a mule but it brings em down in one. Good thing. Wouldn't want to shoot it twice.

This past deer season, a fellow member and his Son were sighting in a Steel Henry in 45/70.

It was a nice looking Rifle and through the open sights they were hitting a 3” circle at 50 yards, shooting off of Sticks.

It was a hand full to say the least.

If you take one apart you will notice- Definitely not a Winchester or old Marlin. Really need to spend some time cleaning up the internal parts. Pretty rough.

Go or for Show?

i always wanted one ,so heading tomorrow to buy one in 44Mag

it certainly will be nice to display!

but what about to go in the field and get the job done?

what do you choose to do?

I just picked up a 357 Henry classic (no side gate) at auction. I shot it with sights only out to fifty yards and was plenty happy. I ordered the picatinny rail and hammer extension and when they arrived I pulled my 3-9x vortex crossfire II off of my Henry golden boy 22 win mag.
First pic is open sights; second is scoped. Both at fifty yards.
I think the 357 is better balanced than the 22 win mag but both of these guns are boat anchors compared to my Uberti Cimarron 1873 in 44-40. And that is heavier than my Winchester model 94 in 44-40.
But I do like the 357, a lot. Plus I can shoot 38 SPC in it, as long as I sight up 3 hash marks!

I bought a youth model .22 lever for my wife (she’s short). Wasn’t impressed with what I saw “under the hood”. After taking the cover off this is what I found.

I can’t speak for accuracy or smoothness as I have never fired it. I can speak to their warranty though. I picked up one in 22 at an auction and my son fell in love with it at 12 years old. He toted that rifle a many of miles out plinking in the woods. He eventually came home and told me the plunger that goes in the magazine “just fell out” somewhere. He said he had looked all over and it wasn’t to be found.
Well, I called Henry and explained the situation to the very nice lady. She got the serial number and said she would take care of it. I asked her how much and she said she would check. In about 3 days a package arrived with not one but 2 plungers. I called her back and got a different person. After explaining the situation and offering to pay the guy explained they valued customers and a lifetime warranty means a lifetime warranty no matter what.
Amazing company in my limited experience.

FWIW, that was about 10-12 years ago. They may have changed.
