Henry Rifles, "Go or Show"?

Go or for Show?

i always wanted one ,so heading tomorrow to buy one in 44Mag

it certainly will be nice to display!

but what about to go in the field and get the job done?

what do you choose to do?
post
display pics or dispatched pics please

There great I have one in 44 Mag. it's my first lever gun very impressed with the accuracy have downed two deer with it at 75 yds DRT have fun

sweet, iron sights or did you scope it?

i am not one to have safe Queens. I want to shoot it.
I like the Skinner Express (peep) sights on my Henry 44, and am ordering some this week for my new Marlin 357.

They’re OK but nothing extra special. One is plenty for me. The rear sights are lame (IMO). A Skinner or tang sight is a good upgrade. I’d take a long hard look at a Model 92 copy.

I bought a Color Case Hardened 44 Mag to use for Ohio rifle season. It looks good and shoots good. I took a big doe last year at 120 yards and it put the smack down on her shooting a 240 Gr XTP. It usually shoots 100 yard groups in the 2” to 3” range, which suits me fine for deer at that range. I really wish that I could deer hunt here with my 1968 Marlin 336 in 30-30, but I have no complaints on the Henry.

I have a Leupold v-11 1 to 4 power scope on mine 2"to 3" groups at 100 yds I use 240 gr. JHP bullets and reload mine shoots great with cast bullets also just watch the overall length so they feed in your gun.

For the stuff I'm interested in, vintage JM stamped 336s have always done the job. However I'll admit I have never owned a henry other than the survival rifle, which is great for its intended purpose.

I have one in 45 Colt, it’s a favorite when my family and friends come over to plink with a few firearms, gets a lot of repeat requests. Fun guns.

I have 3 Henrys
45/70 H010B with skinner peeps 100 yards 4-inch groups
30/30 H009B 100 yards 3-inch groups
22 H004M1 military tribute 100 yards 3-inch groups
Best shooters I have owned.

I was looking for a serious short range thumper for deer.
Bought a Brass single shot Henry in 45-70.
Looking at putting a red dot on it.

So, while it's a beauty of a rifle, yeah it's gonna get hunted.
I think they still make a 41 Mag. Never had one in a rifle but excellent caliber and I bet it'd shine in a carbine or similar.

My experience with them is they are built a whole lot cheaper than Marlin and Winchester. Lower quality alloys, softer parts, etc. They sure look good though.

interesting input. hense the go or show.

im gonna shoot this!
have stuff for 1k plus rds ;-)

I need another rifle like I need a hole in my head, so I keep resisting the urge to get their 357 Magnum Lever rifle. Every time I watch all those old westerns, which is daily, the urge increases.

I have no idea how they shoot but they sure look nice. Many years ago, I had a Marlin in 357 magnum, and I still regret selling it. It was a real fun gun to shoot off hand at 50 yards. It was also very reliable and easy to clean.
