Help

If you have cats and they come to my house and crap on my front doorstep, which happens way too often by the way. I remove one of their 9 lives, no second thoughts, no tears. If Fefe has a collar on, one warning shot and only one. Way too many people dump their cats off out here in the country to handle it any other way.

Our local rescue groups trap, neuter and release feral cats. This is a common practice as far as I know. They prefer to release them where they were trapped originally. Theoretically it will eventually solve the problem but I doubt that. The only cat population moderating factor here is the coyotes, and them I still shoot. I used to dispatch any seemingly feral cat I spotted. That is no longer PC in my household.
Trap, neuter, release is the policy of the city in which I reside. From my observations it doesn't reduce the population, as more roaming domestic cats simply go feral.
They are devastating to wildlife populations, songbirds, in particular, and yet seem to do nothing to the mice...

The one time I actually fired my carry gun in anger was to scare off a dog -at a distance of 6' that was one of 2 that were trying to circle me. After discussing the incident with others, I probably should have shot it to prevent others from injury...but being a dog lover clouds ones judgement.

Using a pellet gun, or other non-lethal means will only smarten them up, to avoid you, not your property.

That being said, one must be careful: As I understand local law, unauthorized live-trapping (as opposed to that done by animal control) is considered animal cruelty, a felony.

Foot traps under that deer feeders hold do the trick. When I need to I'll tie the bait right to the pan. I'd only do it when u can keep an eye on the set as a cat caught in a foot trap can sometimes be pretty loud. Dispatch said cat reset and repeat. I'd personally set a buck of traps in a area maybe u could catch more than one. Catch alive traps work well also. Pretty easy to give them a good bath when they are in trap just release them to wild when they are sleeping after said bath.

Or I have used the below to keep deer out of my sweet corn. It works, but the "triggers" are nothing but pins that release the firing pin and are under the tension of the firing pin spring. Very hard to trigger off. So, I took a 16 oz bottle of water, tied it to the release pin and set it on top of the post I had the alarm nailed to. Then I tied the perimeter string to the bottle of water. Touch the string and you get a bang. You can also buy tear gas shells, which really might work for you. Be aware that the 12 gauge blanks are not that loud, but you could maybe try some of the ones designed to frighten birds with a secondary explosion. I suggest wearing safety gear, face shield, etc. if you go with a hair trigger system.

Feral cat are the biggest problem there is for the young. birds, rabbits, squires... They multiply rapidly, and are deadly on small game.
Soon they will be working over your nice "kitty's" in your own yard. Look up some stats on what they do and how bad the problem is.
Shoot every one on sight. Keep your pets in the house.

.

The picture I posted is of the arm of a 70 yr old woman was a result of a dog attack. I won't let an aggressive dog walk a way from me. I will put it down if I am able.
