Totally agree on the Lilja barrel. I do not have any experience with their .22 barrels but their 17HMR barrels shoot extremely well. All things considered, they are expensive but it will be money well spent.

From a financial aspect you would be much better off to sell the Ruger and get a CZ, for the price of a Lilja barrel you can purchase a new CZ rifle. In my experience each and every CZ I have owned has shot well right out of the box. At the very least before spending the money on a new barrel I would contact Ruger, if the rifle shoots that bad the factory should stand behind it.

thank you for the info was really nice will take this and run with it was thanking of 17 do not really want to get rid of gun and do not want one i can not depend on thanks again. rick

I would start with Ruger and see what they say. Ruger is doing very well right now and the last thing they want is people talking trash about their products.

My neighbor has a #1 Ruger in 204 that shot 1.5 inch groups at 100 yards. Not very good accuracy but good enough that I didn't think Ruger would do anything. He contacted them and Ruger asked he send the rifle back. They replaced the barrel and it now shoots much better.

rick: Just a reminder: if you changed out any of the original Ruger factory parts, they will not work on the rifle until all the after market parts are replaced with original Ruger parts.

That also goes for any Ruger parts that may have been "modified" like the barrel channel of the stock. A guy was having accuracy problems with a Ruger 77, opened up the barrel channel to prevent the barrel from making contact, then later returned it to Ruger. They contacted him & said they would not work on it until the stock was replaced.

They will not ship out a rifle that does not contain 100% original Ruger parts.

I've had several of those guns and seen a bunch more. All good shooters, a couple just unbelievably accurate. None were dogs. Check the whole gun just like you would any bolt action. Mine are bedded. Is the barrel wedge tight. Also barrel, bolt handle, trigger group contact with stock, etc. A bad crown will totally ruin accuracy and you can't necessarily tell by looking. Check everything. Make sure the scope is good and check ring alignment.....Ruger rings aren't necessarily on the same centerline. That thing should shoot. Every 22Mag I've had liked Win 40JHP.

If you are in no rush, send it off to Clark. I have sent and ordered comeplete rifles from them and they are super shooters and great to deal with. When you get it back your dream will have come true. ;D
