22 wmr ....CZ or 77/22 ?

I think I have narrowed my search for the best 22wmr platform to the CZ 452 Varmint or the Ruger 77/22 Mag Stainless Laminated.

Here is what I am thinking. The CZ is a 1:16 twist and the Ruger is 1:14 twist. I would think the CZ would shoot the new 30 gr hornaday better than the 1:14.

If anyone with experience can speak to this twist vs bullet weight issue in the 22 wmr, I would be interested in listening.

odin, i have a cz452 varminter in .17hmr and love it.fit and finnish are great. far cry from my model93 savage in 22mag.

I have settled on the CZ 452 Varmint. I am hoping the 1:16 twist will be better tor the hornady 30 gr vmax.

I will shoot what ever the gun likes best of course....but a guy can hope

I have owned several .17's I am through with small crap, bent cleaning rods, etc. No slam intended! I just won't own another 17!

I am of the same opinion concerning the 17. It is OK for small game but it is not a good yote gun even in Texas where the doggies are poor. Tried several different feedings for the 17 on yotes and none of them were satisfactory to me. The 22mag is a much better choice.

I think your choice in platform is sound, they are very nice rifles and it should shoot like a house fire. Good luck with the new rifle.
