Help on modifying a Winchester 52B (Miroku) trigger

I have an almost NIB Winchester 52B that I just started shooting. Absolutely love the gun however it’s trigger is terrible at something north of 7#’s and resolving this issue is an absolute must.

I much prefer triggers in the ounces and would really like to get this one down to 10-12 oz minimal if possible. I did a fair amount of research on the net and didn’t come up with much info, what little I did find didn’t give me much hope. I did read about removing the “lawyer” pin which would give the trigger a little more adjustment as has an adjustable trigger but I’m doubting that by just doing this it will get me where I wish to be. Haven’t read anything about replacing springs or any sear work. I do have experience is reworking sears as I did some on 41 S&W pistols shooting bulleye so If I need to I can/will. I would prefer to keep the gun “stock” looking so swapping out for an aftermarket would be my last resort if I can’t get the stock trigger to all decent bench rest shooting…. But if it’s just a bolt in with no stock modifications then that would be an option but again I haven't read about any after markets for this gun.

If anyone has any tips, tricks, info or knows a really good gunsmith who has the expertise and is proficient on Win 52B triggers I would appreciate any insight you could give.

I looked at some in info about the B model and it was produced from 1937 to 1951. I am almost positive none of the 52s were made in Japan. What makes you think it has a Miroku trigger? I wish I could help you with a lighter trigger, but I don't think Miroku is involved in the least. Search for a 22 smith and ask a few for who specializes in Winchester Model 52s.

You are getting the original Winchester 52's confused with the repro's. Back in the early 90's Miroku made the repro's of the Winchester 52.The first run were Brownings as they bought Winchester then the 2nd year they started making basically the same 52 with the Winchester stamp (and on the barrel is states "Make in Japan", so I can only assume that they made their own triggers unless they outsourced them. If you do a search on Miroku Browning or Win 52's you will see them.

I can't help you other then to direct you to, I believe a 3 piece article in Rifle magazine by Gil Sengal about M52's. not too long ago.

Hip

My 52b trigger is very light but I've never bothered to do an actual test. My tester is an old rcbs spring type. The pin removal does work.

This is the only photo of a target i have that has the 52b repo on it. The dots are 3/4". I haven't shot it a lot

These triggers can have the pin relocated just like the c and d triggers. They are a micro motion triggers. Look up dokey on rimfire central
