Help - Best Tracking variable power scope.

Guys,
I do a ton of long range coyote and varmint hunting. I have shot a lot of F class. I currently have a couple Leupold scopes that when moved 1/4 moa, on rifles capable of 1/4 moa shooting, the shot moves way more than that.
I took scopes back to Leupold who sent them back without finding any issues.

Im looking for a great tracking variable power scope that tracks well, moves 1/4moa when dialed, thats POI doesnt change when power is changed, for long range coyote and varmint hunting.

Please let me know your thoughts, this is one of the only websites I trust exclusively.

I have a Sightron 6x24 power on my varmint rifle that tracks wonderfull. Tracking is Sightrons claim to fame.

Having been a long time fan of Leupold scopes, and still using 3 36 power Leupolds in competition, the failings of a varible power scope by most manufactures, is that unless the the Cross hairs are etched in the first or second focal planes you will always have a shift in the point of impact as you change the power ring. If you spend a lot of money on a varible like a Night force or a scope that specifically states the crosshair is etched in the first or second focal plane then you will be on your way to eliminating the POI shift.The only other thing to do is make a correction chart and tape it to the side of your rifle, or scope. I have several var X ll &lll Leupolds, and thats how I adapted to the problem. I have one scope that is etched and it cost about $1175.00 and its by Huskemaw out of Cody WY, similar to Nightforce.

The new this years production sightron S111 in any configuration as they are alot of bang for the buck.Make sure you get one that was made last year or this to get the latest upgrades.

If weight's not an issue, I agree....but then the 2.5-10x32 is only 19 ozs.

I here this weight issue all the time if it is that big of a deal back away from the table for a day or two, the day I can't pack a 32oz nf I will hang it up and they track, I really like my S&B 5-25X56 it track wonderfully.

Same problem w/ leupolds as stated by Riverwolf. Except my 6X18 which tracks & repeats nicely. I think my next buy will be with etched crosshair................ Live & learn! Also same BS from Leupold. My 1/8 minute clicks move 1/2 in. @ 100 & doesn't repeat when dialing back. They said it checked out just fine :

nightforce is a no brainer, i also use a kahles 3 x 18 that does exactly what i tell it to do!!

I had a NF 12-42BR that did not track well. Sent it back to NF and no problem since. My March 10-60 tracks real well. Its 5 yrs old now, and no problems so far. Hope not, its out of warranty.

While that's certainly true, I still don't want to put a 32 oz scope on a 7 LB sporter build.

That may be true, I don't have any idea what a Tikka T3 lite weighs,....never weighed one and I don't know what a 3.5-15 NSX weighs but that is what I pack for a daily pickup back and forth to work and around the ranch here rifle, for my dedicated hunting rifle I don't trust some plastic stock weenie gun like that when I might see a buck or bull of a life time so I pack a quarter minute magnum semi custom .300wm with a S&B 5-25X56 PMII I think it weighs 14.7#'s with sling, bullets and bi-pod, the scope itself I think weighs 1050g whatever that is in American talk, my back up .300wm has a 5.5-22X56 NSX on it and it weighs 32oz. of course I weigh 250 so a little thing like that is no chore for me, I hunt the Hells caynon to the breaks of the Salmon River in eastern Washington to Northern Idaho, I am almost 50 so I may have to lighten it up someday but I am still good for now

2.5x25 and a 10x60 owner here, and they get my vote also.

The first focal plane 30mm Weaver 15x and 20x track well and have good glass for the cost.

..0.02 for the money sightron..have 3 s111 and 1 6.5-24 big sky side f.. all track great on my coyote/varmint rifles..on my shooter rifles I have a couple NF 5.5-22 np-r1..also have a huskema 5-20 tracks really well..go with the top names like NF, sightron & huskema and you will do fine...sold all my Leupolds would not track..that said I just received a vortex 6.5-20 viper for my cz 452 am 22LR from cameraland, great deals going on now..Danny

I have the Sightron SIII 8-32X56 sitting on a 16lb 300RUM with no break on it and the scope has functioned perfectly for me. Also like the LRMOA reticle. Bang for your buck it will be hard to top. If $ isn't an issue.......Have Fun.

I think what alf was referring to when he mentioned weight was if you are putting it on a rifle that you shoot competitively you have be cognizant of the weight. Heck for a huntin rifle like somebody else said who cares about a few extra ounces to carry.

I've had good luck with the tracking of Nightforce NXS and Schmidt and Benders PM-IIs.
