HELP! 6mm/300 WSM brass making

Been trying "unsuccessfully" to help a friend make 6mm/300 WSM brass. We have a Redding 300 WSM type "S" die, and bushings .310, .289, .282, .278 and .274..
Have tried Norma and Hornady 300WSM brass just switched to .270 WSM and still having the same failure.. when going from .282 to .278 it collapses the shoulder.
I have annealed the necks, but still have the problem..
I have made every kind of wildcat cartridge you can think of and never had this happen..

Anyone out there making 6mm/300 WSM please PM me with your method and tools...

Please if you haven't made 6mm/300 WSM brass before don't PM me this is a NOT a problem that can be solved with opinions and keyboard experts...
I haven't tried everything...

My guess is the end point of each bushing is different at the end of the press stroke. What happens if you skip the .278"? I would use Neil Jones dies with the appropriate shoulder angle. They're made to size all of the neck not just a portion of the neck.

X2 on Neil Jones dies,I use mine to make 17 ppc from 7.62x39 brass with no problems at all.
Neil’s products are top notch. For my 6.5WSM I have used a Redfing fl die set specifically made for the 6.5 and it works perfectly going from 270 WSM down to 6.5.Like Dave said the design of Neil’s bushings is key with necking down from much larger necks.Greg Tannel has built and shot 6-300 WSM’s and formed brass for his own personal coyote rifle, perhaps if you gave him a call he could tell you exactly how he did it ,he would enjoy talking about his coyote rifle and the performance it gave.He really would like to help and is a heck of a nice guy.

I posted in your other thread but I used 270wsm brass and necked it down with a 6.5WSM dies first followed by a 243WSSM dies and it worked perfectly. 300wsm is probably making the neck too thick which in turn makes it hard to reduce the neck diameter. Standard bushing dies suck for necking down cases that far IMO. Lee had 6.5-300wsm dies as a cheap standard production die when I bought mine. Not sure if that is the case now.

I don't remember having a problem necking down win 270wsm brass to 6mm. I'm sure that I used Lambert style forming dies.

I second what IdahoCTD said. I run the 270 wsm brass in a 270 wsm die without the expander. Then the 6.5 wsm die from Lee without expander will get you close enough.
