Lapua, Petersen, Alpha, ADG please make 300 WSM brass

I’d buy 100 Lapua as soon as it’s available. However, it would probably last me a few years. They are always my first choice if available.

ADG will make anything you want. Just takes $$$. Benchrest and F Class are a tiny market. If prs shooters picked it up we'd have it next spring.

It has a hunting and general market as well though.

I talked to ADG about this today. When Alex said it just takes money he wasn't joking. They have a lot on their plate already so the commitment would have to be rather large, like OEM large. They would probably do it for a 200,000 piece per year commitment.

Good luck with Lapua. I've been petitioning the issue of 284 brass with them for some time now. The argument is, Not enough purchasing interest to justify production yet the 6.5/284, which they do still produce seems to be an ammo choice in competition that has been slowly if not completely diminished from the competition field. The additional argument is, it can be easily necked up with the use of expanders. That's an additional cost of tools on top of brass. However, during the duration of petitioning, they have produced not only 6.5 Creedmmor, but 6 Creedmoor as well. Suspiciously common among the PRS field. I would think it would be as easy to alter 6.5 to 6 Creedmoor as well as 6.5/284 to straight (7mm) 284. And straight 284 is a very common cartridge within the competition field ( F class). As I said, good luck with Lapua.

Competition makes for better prices and better quality. In 2008 Norma 300 WSM brass sold for 56.00 a hundred at Sinclair's, which wasn't the cheapest place to buy brass. Now it is $2.00 a case. No other brass cartidge went up that much. Most doubled, but not for times as much. Matt

200,000 sounds like a lot but that is only 200 people buying a thousand. I know lots of guys that buy by the 500 or 1000 count. When a shipment of Norma brass hits the market, It dries up pretty fast. Matt

Has Norma been discontinued? See some sites saying discontinued. Noone has any around it seems. Norma website still lists a part number but not sure the quantity. Brownells says 100 count is the only thing available but out of stock

I emailed Alpha, ADG, Lapua and Peterson.

Alpha said the community will decide. Didn’t seem interested.

Lapua said the email was “placed in the NEW PRODUCTS FILE for future consideration.” Essentially round bin’d it.

Peterson said they do plan on making it but they’re busy and don’t know when it will scheduled. Peterson is the most promising....but I’m not going to rebarrel any time soon in WSM.

No word from ADG.

so; divided by the 4 or 5 brands you want to choose from, how small would each one's market share be...? At this point in time, the market has failed to generate enough interest by even one manufacturer.
