I put together ANOTHER 6BR, using a new Rem 700 single shot action, a Savage 12 6BR barrel I got from 284Husker maybe 5 years ago (it was the 30 inch, set it up as a remage and cut the barrel to 22 inches) bedded it all into a used 700 VLS stock with a Calvin Elite trigger at 14oz. Threw a fixed 16 power on top and headed to the range. While awaiting new brass I grabbed some Headhunter 6's I had loaded for my XP 100 12 twist (shoot amazing at 300). After zeroing scope had 9 rounds and decided to shoot groups. First at 100yds- .368, next .364. Hmmm... this thing is trying to shoot. Borrowed windflags from our local BR guru and settled in, last three .18! Forget about my old 105 Amax load I used in this barrel before, straight home for the Headhunters. Well I had loaded the last of the for the XP 100. So..... what would be the closest substitute? Maybe the Ultras or the Avengers? I was simply amazed that these shot so well out of the 8 twist not to mention a factory tube with an unknown round count.
