hBN in Chrome Moly Barrels

Gentlemen,
I seem to remember that moly can have disastrous effects in chormemoly barrels if not cared for properly. My question is, is the same true for hBN please? I have come by a fine old Rem700 built by Roy Dunlap which shoots really well and I would like to play with some loads, but obviously don't want to mess up the gun in any way. TIA for all your help.

I have been experimenting with HBN in SS barrels, so cannot say much about any others. I can tell you that HBN is very inert, it will not react with other chemicals, will not attract moisture, and will not build up like Moly. Also, compared with Moly, you will probably need at least 1/2 grains more powder because of reduced pressure. HBN makes cleaning a bore very easy, and there is a noticeable reduction in barrel heat.
Good shooting,
Jack

hBN will not affect a chromemoly barrel.
It is used in different forms to coat metat to metal contact surfaces in many different industries.

You can tumble with steel shot, ceramic media,my use), or tumble with your bullets only. I have not tried the last recommendation, but know people who have coated this way.
