Harrisburg Pa sports show bans black rifles

I dont see why they are banning black guns at the pa sportsman show. They "produced and manage" the SHOT show. http://www.nssf.org/SHOT/about.cfm I've never been to the SHOT show but im pretty sure theirs plenty of AR's at the SHOT show.

I'm going there instead. I feel sorry for the exibitors,and i still hope their halls are empty!

i strongly earge you to back out as a sponsor (like Cabelas did) from the eastern sports and outdoor show! unless you set a booth up with their so called assault rifles and tell the truth about them! and how many jobs the firearms industry provides!

Due to Reed Exhibitions' refusal to reconsider their decision to ban Modern Sporting Rifles from the February 2-10 Eastern Sports Show in Harrisburg, PA, the National Rifle Association has decided to withdraw from the show. We had called on Reed Exhibitions to reconsider their decision; unfortunately they have steadfastly refused to do so. As a result, the NRA will not be participating in the upcoming show in Harrisburg or in any other shows hosted by Reed Exhibitions that maintain this policy. We are disappointed that Reed Exhibitions has ignored the concerns expressed by attendees, the outdoor industry and the NRA in not reconsidering their position to ban the display of Modern Sporting Rifles.

233 vendors joined the boycott and the number continues to rise. It's nice to see some unity within our ranks.
Let's ALL do our part by NOT ATTENDING the show which would only undermine the efforts of the boycotting vendors. Hopefully someone will provide a list of the vendors who did attend so I will be able to make an informed decision as to where I will and will not spend my money in the future.

Being a proud Pennsylvanian, who happens to be stranded out west these days, it disturbs me that this show has made such an ill-advised (at best) decision. I applaud the vendors who have pulled out, and only say that if you are planning to not attend because of this, remember that it's only the half of it: the people who made this choice to ban these rifles need to hear that not only are you not going, but exactly why. Unless they truly feel the pinch and understand why this happened to their show will they change.

There are some big names on that list... I think the boycott is going to hit them pretty hard. Unfortunately, it may prevent future events from happening at all. However, as mentioned previously, we can find pretty much anything we need online these days.
With that said, I support my local shops as much as possible, but they can't afford to stock everything for all shooting disciplines, while 'the internet' can!

U can bet ur last dollar those hungry outfitters will b there in full ranks!!! I love ear hustling while they r trying to set the hook. The best and most used one liner is "I just got a lease on a terrific property that hasn't been hunted in over 20 years" Spread the word guys!! It was on our local news tonight here in Northeast Pa about all the vendors pulling out. I have also seen it posted on craigs list tonight.

At first I thought nobody would notice that some peole wouldnt attend but with the advent of all the dealers and personalitys not attending,that ought to chap their a%#.

The fact that Senator Feinstein is holding a press conference this minute (Thursday, 10:25 AM) about her Federal ban proposals should be of trivial political concerns or importance to the gunowners on these forums. (....I'm told and instructed by members here)

I was very disappointed to learn that you wanted to "ban" modern sporting rifles (MSRs, or ARs) from the Eastern Sports & Outdoor Show. Educated people understand that the MSR is a hunting rifle transitioned from military design just like the rifled barrel muzzle loader, bolt action rifle and the semi automatic shotgun and rifle. Demonizing a rifle for how it "looks" is rather foolish. Educating people about MSRs that have been around for 45 years, like the NSSF is trying to do, would have been less controversial than attempting to ban them from the event. I hope that Reed, its management and employees will educate themselves as the the sporting use of MSRs and not simply repeat liberal rhetoric and be scared by the tactics of gun haters.
