Going to the Harrisburg Show?

Gary in MD

Is anyone going to the Great American Outdoor Show in Harrisburg, PA this year?
I believe that it runs from Feb 4th through Feb 12th.

I say no but, I will probably drag my butt on up there. The last time I was up there the hotel rooms were reasonably priced and just about every hotel in the area had shuttles to the show.

Pretty sure that I’m going but it won’t be until the second Saturday. Hopefully the crowds won’t be too bad

I worked a Exhibitor booth there one time. It was/is a most unique event in a most unique city.
* I had to fly up and really, as Harrisburg is the State Capital, I thought it would be easy. Nope.
Changed planes three times on the way and the last being a very small regional service.
* Upon arrival I found there had been a shooting in the parking lot that morning.
* It snowed.
* The other person assigned to our booth arrived with a 102 temperature and spent the entire time at the
hotel.
* There are plenty of rednecks above the M-D line.
* There are a million things to do and see. Dog shows, taxidermy, hunting guides, farm equipment,
celebrities, mohawk haircuts and the list goes on.
* Lastly, and "bestest", a southern redneck and a northern redneck still got a lot in common. ;)

Up to 15 years ago it was an annual trip with a carload of hunting buds. Then that anti-gun fiasco a few years ago we boycotted it and now just the gas and restaurant costs alone do not justify what we get out of it. The state is in a downward spiral (i.e. uncle festerwoman) and I would not feel comfortable around any big city here especially Harrisburg.

My buddy has a deer head that he needs to pick up there from an outfitter so I will ride with him. Otherwise the parking and crowds are a little much for me. Only a couple hours away.

I went a few years in a row only a 3 hour drive for me. Haven’t went in the past few years like you said between the crowds and parking what feels like 5 miles away makes for a long day. But still tell people if they have never been there before it is worth the trip to see.
