Hard carbon removing, help!

Nope - hard carbon isn't quite diamond, but it's a heavily cross-linked very large molecule and isn't soluble; you have to break it down mechanically or chemically. Unfortunately anything that will chemically degrade hard carbon will also do a number on barrel steel.

The citrid acid can sort some corrosive effect on the barrel?

I keep it simple. I let a Kroil soaked patch soak in the throat over night. Then take a bronze brush one size over and twirl it in the throat area and it will break up the harden rings (neck and throat) up into very small pieces. Flush out with Bore Tech CR 4 carbon remover. Then patch out throat area with JB bore paste. In about 15 minutes, the bore will be perfectly clean and ready for first shot fouling.

I inspected the throat and bore with a bore scope prior to, during and after thorough cleaning.

Depends on your caliber in question of carbon rings. For 6.5 I would you use .277 or .284

Rem Bore Cleaner already has a abrasive in it. Wrap a patch around a worn brush that is sticking out the end of the barrel. Put some cleaner on it (it is grey in color) and start by pulling it through the barrel. About 10 strokes and copper and carbon gone. Caution to shake the bottle well. It has a steel ball in it to help mix up the abrasive with the oil.

Citric acid is very mild (you get large amount in citrus fruit) and won't degrade hard carbon, but it won't attack the bore either, although the water it's dissolved in can lead to corrosion if not followed with a rust preventive treatment.

I've used both Isso and JB, but find this ( fritz) work the best. Also being green colored it is easy to see when it comes to clean up. Much easier to see some left behind compared to the other two. JMO

I read somewhere that there is no known solvent that dissolves carbon. You might soften other chemicals that it's mixed with? Sounds like you need an abrasive.

might not remove the super hard carbon but it does dissolve carbon. clr on an oversized nylon brush takes care of the carbon ring with ease

Alex Wheller gave the best advice for removing hard Carbon. He said Montana Copper Killer and a lot of new brass brushes. It takes a lot of elbow grease but it does work every time. There is no easy to remove carbon. Just hard work. Alex was 100% right as always.
