H4198…sanity or screw up?

Saw this at a Scheels today. There were only 3 lbs. left. Suppose that price is right, or did someone mess up?
I am well supplied so I left them for someone else who needs them. The Varget beside it was $60.99. IMR8208 was $59.99. Did pick up 1000 Remington 7 1/2 primers for $59.99. So there may be hope for common sense to return soon……

A good deal, no doubt, by today’s standards. But again, I am well supplied for many years and didn’t see the need to hoard quantities from another shooter(s) who actually needs it. That seems to have contributed to the mess we got into in the first place.
So if there was a 20 dollar bill and a 100 dollar bill lying on the ground. You would just leave them both cause you have money in your pocket. Interesting.

I suspect when they ran it through the Bar Scanner that 39 would turn into something like 69.

Or maybe not.

I gave a good friend 2 lbs of it at the NBRSA Score Nationals this year. My only stipulation was that since he was from Louisiana, he could not say a bad word about us Texans anymore ;)

I saw some singles similarly priced at a local mom & pop gun shop several weeks ago.I tend to think that with all the primer sales that have been going on - now would be a good time for those who are always "in need" during shortages to stock up.

I think you made the right decision. If you bought it, what would you do with it since you say you already have enough? If you bought it to resell, there isn't much profit to be made after shipping costs and whatever tax you paid. The price did look good for someone who was going to already be wanting to buy it.

I too have seen some decent deals and think that the reason they sell one item at a decent price is to get you spending mood. You buy a couple of pounds of powder at a fair price then you buy primers and another type powder at the inflated price. Buy the deal and pass on the rest.

Definitely a bargain as AR2207 which is H4198, just rebranded by Hodgdon, is selling for $160 a Kg {2.2 lb}…. in Australia where it is made…
