gunsmith damage

I took my rifle to the gunsmith to have it pillar bedded. I bought a richards micro-fit laminate stock and finished it myself. I spent alot of time on it and had it looking really nice. When I picked up my rifle from the gunsmith, it was beat up. There are numerous dents, scratches, and bedding compoud on the stock and numerous marks on the barrel that I will have to bead blast again to remove. I stupidly didn't say anything and left mad. On my way home, I called a friend to vent on the situation and he convinced me to turn around and call him out on it, so I did. He was understanding and willing to refinish my stock, but I didn't want him to touch my gun any more since he already messed it up so he gave me $50 back of the $150 I paid him for the bedding job. Needless to say, I wont be returning for more work.Looking for a new gunsmith in the Seattle area, any recomondations?

If no one else here can provide a sum-certain lead based on first hand knowledge, I'd think about giving some of the known commodities a call and talk them up for recommendations for a specialist for your needs:

Pistols - http://jplprecision.com/index.html
Custom Rifles - http://www.edlapourgunsmithing.com/
General Gunsmithing - http://www.themarksman.net/gunsmith_shop.php
Mike's Custom Barrels - Mike Nelson at 253-759-0153

Again, I don't think these guys necessarily specialize in what you need, but asking them for recommendations might allow you to triangulate on the right person.

I feel your pain. I needed to have some trigger/barrel work done on a Browning HP. I went to the 1911 forum and got a couple of names of the top HP gunsmiths in the US. I picked a guy with a great reputation within the HP community.

The gun came back with gouges in the new Robar finish I had just had done. Thing that sucks is that I did not notice until almost 2 months later. I had simply unpacked the pistol, taken out the new barrel to send out for finishing and stuck it in the safe. I did not see the gouges until I had gotten the barrel back from finishing and put it back in at the range for test firing. Too late to call and raise a stink. I think that is why some gunsmiths only accept cashier checks and money orders.

you said u finished it,read on removing scratches and dent from wood,do this and block sand bedding filler from stock then refinish yourself.these procedures are easy then lightly sand all and refinish
