Gunsafes?

Just completed an uproot'n'move after 36 years, don't want to pay to haul old safe to new abode.

What brands of safes commonly available are reliable & a good value for the money?

Maybe more important is what brand(s) are to be avoided?

I need a biggie, make no mistake. Current box is 800+ pounds empty....

I'm pretty happy with the Sturdy safe I just bought. With upgraded steel and fire lining, it's pushing 1500 lbs, empty. I also had a smaller AMSEC BF6030 that I sold, that I liked as well. But in terms of bang for your buck, I think it's tough to beat Sturdy.

I dont know if you have a harbor freight near you.
Try their safe. A lock only keeps a honest person honest.

Based on your post, you've got experience with purchasing a safe so the caveats of relying on "it holds 20 guns" as gospel don't need to be covered. I own a SentrySafe and, except for it's size, I like it very much. In my state there are certain basic requirements for gun safes and the Sentry design meets them all. I also like the Winchester Safes Silverado Premier 23 Fire-Safe.

I'm sure their reviews are unbiased and unaffected by their advertisers. 8)

Amazing what a search (e.g. Google) will turn up.

I have had several, I just bought a Ft Knox and I love it. Great workmanship 45 min fire rating. Take a look at one in person.

I have a Ft Knox and it is very nice. Lots of options with the partitions and shelves. Nobody is running off with this safe @ 1200 lbs.

At any rate, if I bought another, it would have numbers, not a danged dial whereby if you go past your numbers by just a bit, you have to start over ! Irritating...
Also...I put mine in my garage and built a box around it with large lettering...DANGER ! FLAMABLES. GAS AND PAINT ! ( with a padlock as well)
I also installed a device that stays plugged in year round for moisture.

I've got a Liberty but wish I had one of these. The only scuffs I've put on my rifles have came from getting them in and out of my safe.

I have two safes by Security Products and my only complaint is that they are too small......outgrew them, lol! Buy as much safe as you can afford! Bigger is definitely better. I want/need another.....

I like the recessed locking arrangement, most that see mine don't understand how they open - takes me just a few seconds. Security Products worked with me - the 2nd safe was bought a few years after the 1st one and they are both keyed to the same key.
