Gunsafes?

I think my next one will be a Browning. I really like the long gun rack on the door to keep your most popular rifles close at hand.

Build a walk in and add a brown vault door.

Yeah, after seeing the house for the very first time & finding what looks to be a perfect candidate poured integral with the foundation (I think there's a cast slab on top too but need to remove a few pieces of the plywood-looking ceiling on top of 2x4 joists first to be sure; the ply could be left-in-place formwork) my initial expression to spouse about potential met with decided lowering of temperature in the room.

Her vote cancels mine pretty frequently....

The Pendleton safes with the cylindrical construction are interesting. But this is what I really want, LOL:

I'm going to find a way to do a poured in place vault next time.... though that 8'+ safe looks like a pain to move...

Good luck getting that one into a house after its built.......wow, that's huge!!

Not a chance! A local gun shop / indoor range has one of those sitting out along the curb in front of their parking lot.

Thing's bigger than my car. Can't imagine what it'd cost to have moved any significant distance. Like a traditional pool table, you put it in place THEN build the house around it.

To raise a point for those w/ safes in their cellars/basements-

Is your safe "WATERPROOF" in case of a dwelling fire??

If not,you will find out once the volunteer fire department pisses several thousand gallons of water on your neighborhood bon fire!

Tis the reason,I elected not to build a walk in...down stairs in the basement!

I love my American Security safe. Local locksmiths in my area won't touch the Cabela's or other warehouse safes if you have troubles. Compare fire ratings, chances are you'll need that more than protection from forced entry.

spclark and Dan:
You're basement safe room won't get flooded if you plan ahead; excavate under your front porch area instread of pouring just a slab. Then you will have a basement room with concrete walls on all sides, a concrete slab top, you can pipe in a vent duct for climate control, and then put your safe door on for the entry door. Works great if you can plan it ahead; not so great if buying an existing home. Don
