Been riding since 1966 I never needed a silly suit. That one is only silly until you look back after the sliding stops.
I just knew WOOD has better HARMONICSIi have an Ugly gun but I don't call it Ugly to her face. Shoots way too good and don't want her to get contrary in the middle of a match.

What do you do with a gun that is really ugly
would love to see a pic of herI'm always enjoying myself when I shoot and many of the extreme competitors are excessive in my opinion. Many years ago while shooting practice rounds this extreme competitor was making himself a pain in the butt for everyone. Now I never would have done this in a competition but this was our fun time.
We always had this woman who shot with us who was just, a guys gal, just an awesome person, she was a horse trainer and showed up after her evening stable work for the relaxation of some night shooting, she had a beautiful face and a rack on her to die for.
Because of this guy she and no one else was having any fun so I whispered in her ear and I arranged to put her in post 1 and him in post 2, in the next round, she was shooting a Remington 1100.
In the summer she always wore a light white riding top and for this round she had taken off her bra and unbuttoned it to the essentials, every time she fired she bent down real suggestively toward him to pick up her spent case. By the time we shot the third post he had dropped 5 birds, he threw his Perazzi to the ground and walked off the field, he gathered his gear picked up his shotgun and left. When he left it took a micro second for us to miss him.
I always suggest that you enjoy life, it's worked for me.
My 870? I still have her!would love to see a pic of her
Looks great!!never use Krylon or dollar store spray paint on a synthetic stock in the first place, that crap is for krafts and things that need to be durable to be handled. Plus it will never give a true lasting quality job.
Custom Colors makes aerosol cans using their automotive grade paint with spray nozzles that actually are capable of a quality pattern. They also sell 2K UV protective clear that has it's hardener ready to be released in the can when you are ready to use it.
Masking tape and sanding prep are your friend, and the most important prepwork to get the results you want. I know your grief and trust me, you don't have to send it out to get automotive quality results! Bought this for peanuts, and trust me, this is the good side!

Self spray bombed with 2 coats each of their primer, coarse silver metallic, and 5 coats ruby red candy, then the 2k clear for 3 coats. And trust me, the picture does not do it justice, but you get the idea anyways. less than 100 bucks one can of each will do the stock, and allow a test pattern on, I used a Lapua brass box.

But I will never pay to have another stock finished after this. I will do a better job next time, we live and learn, but I dam sure am not sanding this and redoing it, any flaws have to be searched for to see!
, and did it myself,
Same Dick Wright that manufactured the carbide primer pocket cleaners ?Dick Wright had a gun like that named “Fugly”.
What do you do with a gun that is really ugly and needs a paint job really bad, but its glued in and shoots so good there is no way I am going to unglue and take chance on having it not shoot. Then there is the mailing issue.
Dats purdy!!Looks great!!
I'm a strong advocate for Spraymaxx aerosol cans for the DIY folks.
Most automotive paint stores can mix any color and fill the cans for you.
I agree 100% that the results achieved are really amazing if a person just takes thier time in the prep work and don't get in a hurry.
I try to go out of my way and help folks wanting to try finishing a project on thier own and really enjoy seeing the end results.
A professional paint job isn't for everyone nor every project, you have to go in the direction the spirit moves you.
Quite often the spirit moves in my direction. View attachment 1392942

Oh, I know what you're saying. Tons of work there. I'm just curious if you think I can get close to matching that shade of green with the two colors I mentioned or if you can share a better idea. I'm not talking about a panel repair kinda match, just getting close to that shade of green, as the guy sent me a pic for that color. Make sense? I'm thinking a coat of organic green and a couple of coats of teal will be close but I don't know and was just wondering how you'd go about getting close to that color. That's all. It does look impressive though...no doubt...and I don't even care much for the color but it's not for me. Lol! In no way am I trying to put you in any kinda spot. Just wondering if my idea is how I should try to get close to that shade of green or if you have any ideas about it that might work better is all. No way in hell I could do that kinda work!Mike I'd bet there's over 1000 hours of body and paint on that car!!
Think of all the hours pulling tape to spray for an hour, just to spend countless more hours pulling more tape for another color.
For folks that like to mix and spray thier own
Check out Paintwithpearl for all kinds of candies, pearls, flakes, I get quite a few products through them and blend it with HOK SG100.
