Great idea -- Here's a Handsome Single Action

One of my favorites. I've had it for 52 years. Unmolested. Real stag grips. Carry it almost every evening to feed the animals. It has the 22Mag cylinder in it most of the time now. Not a show piece by any means :) but it has never FTF.

Not so handom, original Single Six convertible 6 1/2" but was my very first handgun purchase that I bought new in the box in 1962 for $64. I carried it in a western style holster for many years hunting in the White Mountains. No telling how many rounds have been through it, probably a PU truck load of 500 round bricks. Never refinished, I just take care of my guns.

those Rugers are real works of art. I had a 41Mag NIB, that I sold off for a 110 dollar profit. I regret it a bunch. They feel great in the hand. Cheers.

1961 Ruger fully engraved cylinder Bearcat this gun has more sentimental value than anything that I own View attachment 1727998
Hey Feller, a man after my own heart. Had a Bear Cat and a single six convertible I bought in 1960 and shot them a lot. Lost them in a divorce in 70. Took me a couple of years to find NOS but I did in 71, by then I was shooting a mod 48 Smith and never fired either of them but I still have them...

My best Ruger lesson, (self 'learned') ..... I had some real nice Colt 1911s early series 70s and Commercial models. I was at a gun show and picked up an early Flat Top in box from the 50s. It was apparent the quality was the exact same level as the colt GC and Commercial. Been a fan ever since. Own a few, but I have outsmarted myself quite a few times on Ruger 3 screws!

Ruger Single actions are such nice guns
This ones my baby
an Old 3 Screw Ruger Super Blackhawk - 5-1/2" barrel (good balance) - 2lb trigger
Have many rounds and memories through it and even had Ruger rebarrel it once
accuracy is amazing allowing hits on coffee cans at 200 yds open sights
Elmer Keith was an inspiration stating he could shoot a deer at 400 yds with his
as well as a friend/Gunsmith who used similar single action pistols for long range sillhouette
A Seville being one of them (almost a copy of this gun)
He made a lot of my 250 gr Keith style hard cast bullets when I used to
shoot 500 rounds per week for practice
I would come back a week later and say "I need another 500"
and he'd shake his head and say "what the heck, you shot those up already?!"
this was the only gun I needed, used or carried for years
---
That grip, getting away from the original square butt
Allows for pleasant shooting and control even with full house loads
