Grand daughter with glasses

Everything above also LPVO or scout scope. Something with GENEROUS eye relief is going to be the easiest to get behind, glasses or not. (Speaking as someone who shoot irons and scopes offhand with a prescription for 4+ diopter and a lot of stigmatism)

Like htsmith said adjust scope to her eyesight.
Exactly - thats what the Diopter is for, it only has so much range though
+/- 2.0 I think - some scopes may have more range of adjustment
if it doesnt adjust enough for her, perhaps try with some +1.0 cheater glasses plus adjust the Diopter?
----
All the way in is usually for approx 20/20 vision, so anyone with glasses would need to turn it outward

Glasses or no glasses it shouldn't make any difference, the gun needs to fit and I can guarantee that her dad's gun doesn't. She should be able to mount the gun with her eyes closed and when she opens her eyes she should be looking through the scope. If you have to bob and weave your head to find the the image it doesn't fit.

A low power scope makes it easier to find the target(target acquisition), but gun fit makes it easier to see through the scope. I can't think of any rifle I have that I haven't adjusted the fit so I can shoot without having to bob and weave my head to instantly see through the scope. I have to build up the comb on most, like on that little Cricket shown. I use cheap butt bags from Amazon and if needed build up under the bag with pads cut for my old neoprene waders.

Good shooting

Yes she does see fine with glasses. I have not had her out shooting yet but her Dad has and he told me he didn't think she would be able to use a scope (gun) yet as she could not see through his scope.

I will get her over here in the next few days and try some of the things all of you have mentioned.

Thanks for all of the suggestions she really wants to go hunting/shooting
I was 5 when I got my first BB gun. Nobody talked about dominant eye and me being right handed shot right handed with my left eye the best I could for 6 or 7 years. Finally, on my own, I tried shooting left hand with my left eye and have done it that way ever since.

I started my granddaughter with a 2-7 power scope shooting at 25 yards. we enjoyed going to the range and shooting together. I hung tin cans from a heavy string, kids love it. later I got targets with animal images on them and she shot those, she shot very well. I believe a low power scope or a scope turned down to its lowest power will help to get her started. I hope the scopes diopters adjustment will correct the image issue for her.

There's been a lot of good advice in this thread, but AWS summed it up the best. We full sized adults have no idea how poorly a full sized rifle fits a 60 pound kid.

We see a lot of threads on the forums where dad starts planning and building a dream rifle for his new-born son or daughter, and I'm usually thinking  :eek: jd
