Safety glasses...

Go to red or persimmon for clays.
This really does make a big difference... Colors are way more vivid , when I was driving home from buying the Oakley prizm shooting glasses I was amazed , it down right sucked taking them off... The world was so dull... Whatever glasses anyone buys just be sure they are optically correct... Cheap plastic lenses VERY rarely are and if you want to see and check out for your self then you tube has the videos... I know Oakley has their videos showing it and iam sure other good companies do also... I have wore cheap safety glasses alot of my life , the dark ones we would wear all day as sun glasses , I think over the years they hurt my eye sight because of them not being optically correct...

While working in auto manufacturing I had a Safety Instructor tell me something that I've never forgotten.
He said there is one group of employees that he's never had to remind to wear safety glasses, ever. People with only one eye.

My obstetrician told me a long time ago to never use cheap glasses as my eyes would have to work overtime to make up for imperfections in the lens and then would weaken the eye muscles and lead to an early need for reading glasses etc. So throughout my career, my sunglasses were always with precision ground lenses as well as my safety glasses and shooting glasses. I did not need reading glasses until I was 65 and now post cataract surgery, I could have surgery to tighten the muscles so I do not need Prism correction, but I have no interest in going through that.

I have tried Ranger glasses as well as Post4Sport (Mike has unfortunately passed on), but go back to Decot's because they still offer the largest frame I have been able to find and especially for clay sports, where you are looking all over the place, I don't want the frames to get in my line of vision.

Absolutely correct... The wearing of cheap plastic safety glasses constantly is what I blame for having to go from perfect vision to readers at 46... Optically correct lenses cost more but there's a reason why they make them... I never knew there was such a thing till it was to late... Most of us in the shooting game know the importance of glasses but I hope this thread also informs people on the importance of optically correct lenses...Plus they sure can't hurt your shooting skills any... As I stated Oakley glasses and I am sure other good places have the videos up on you tube showing the difference.... Please check them out everyone... You only have two eyes but your vision out of them is also important because once it's gone it's gone and there's absolutely no reason to damage it early over a hundred bucks...

Mini-14 shooter. That overgassed sucker threw the brass about 20 yards to get me.

Had a guy shooting one that threw brass everywhere. He hit an electric bug zapper (that was hung at 8' high and about 20' behind the firing line) hard enough that I though someone shot it.

I like my prescription Wiley x in vermillion. I got them because I am light sensitive with my palma gun and the heavy duty drama block side light. They’re impact rated 87.1 I believe.

My eyes are very light sensitive.

The best color I've found yet is a light Pink made (maybe discontinued now) by Uvex for laser room work. I bought 5 pairs several years ago and am down to the last one. On bright sunny days that the bull is washing out, it seems to bring out the black a lot better in the mirage wash.
