Rick I can tell ya Spotted owls taste somewhat better than chicken, especially Bar-B-Qued.

Spotted owls were the lefts excuse to shut down our woods to logging effectively putting thousands of loggers and mill workers out of work.

So maybe we didn’t have to shut down logging and ruin thousands of peoples lives. All thy had to do was kill an invasive species.

Couldn't agree more Rick. Last I checked ( actually I never checked) but owls are nocturnal.. How in the heck could one know the difference? Just an opportunity for DNR to write fines $$$ and confiscate weapons.. Planned out to the 'T" for the antis..

See there, J_idaho? Simple logic, but that attribute is totally lacking with the OR libtards. Almost everyone I knew here from the 70's to the middle 90's was affected by that silly freakin' owl. Jobs lost, homes, careers, and having to "re-train" and move elsewhere. Now it's another damn owl.

Mark, it appears there will be plenty of NV and thermal scopes sold here soon. Of course no one sane would want to tromp about in the dense woods in western Orygun at night anyway, so it's yet another feeble attempt to cure something that they themselves created.

Seems like it could be good sport. May need some night vision? Whoooo Whoooo has the best idea to get this done? I guess if the Barred Owls were reduced TOO quickly, mice, rats etc. would explode in population?
after reading the posts I have pretty much changed my original opinion. Is it relevant to compare this situation to the Python taking over the Florida Everglades and waterways? I am 100% in favor of getting rid of those SOBs but I think that issue has long been settled.

What a bunch of Gummint crap. Eradicating birds of prey makes zero sense. I have both Barred and Great horned Owls in forest behind my house. I live in western Washington state and saw the logging business shut down over the invasive Spotted owl. Invasive Barred owls eat Spotted owls. Why the outrage???

Yes, they will. I once knew a man that saw it happen on a 10k acre plantation. Anything that nests on the ground will suffer severely.
