I am retired and drive school bus. Felt like dung for the last few days and threw a low-grade temp today. Over to the V.A. I went and had them drill their Q-Tip up into my brain............Still have taste & smell, I had better cook off those marinating NY strips before that goes away. I will be sitting tight for the next few weeks ( quarantining )........Wish I had a back yard range,,,,, ;)

Oh Well......It Is What It Is....:(

Regards
Rick
Lots of it happening here too. Couple 80+ hear old buddies got it too. Left the Dr office with a bag of steroids. They feel kinda down and out but after a week much better now. A testimate that the shots keep you above ground.

97.5% is the figure for the US as a whole. Pretty much says it all really. There's no teaching stupid.

No vaccine is 100% effective and the Delta strain is a wicked little thing (much more contagious even if less virulent) but I'm very glad I've had my shots and look forward to a booster.

I don't get it. The vaccines do work. Look at Katos's graph. Right now all the hospitals in my area are packed
with Covid cases. 94% un-vaccinated !! (in my town the its 51%- 49% vaccinated) Figure the odds.
Why are so many of the members of AS so apposed to getting vaccinated ?

That’s not correct. The COVID vaccines are highly protective against infection as well. It is true that there are still breakthrough infections, but they are far less likely to happen, and when they do, people don’t get nearly as sick.

I think this myth is out there because the original trials evaluating the vaccines here didn’t look specifically at transmission, and so for a while it wasn’t known for sure whether they could allow asymptomatic transmission. But since then, it’s become clear that is also greatly reduced by vaccination.

edit: here is a great graph from the latest data set from the CDC that came out yesterday. You can indeed see a very small uptick in infection among the vaccinated as Delta has become prevalent, but still far fewer than the unvaccinated, and in the other two panels you see that for hospitalization and death there is no decrease in vaccine efficacy.

Can you believe the CDC ? Just read that the Teachers Union NEA, coordinated the rules for schools opening up with the CDC. Who can you trust???

I'm 77 and have had my measles and polio shots in grade-school. I have taken both pneumonia vaccines. I have never taken a flu shot and I have never had the flu.

I took the Pfizer COVID-19 shots because this crap is serious and I am not ready to die.

I don't like the way the government is trying to force people to take the COVID vaccine but I think everyone should take it in order to make this think go away. I am not worried about dying but COVID has prevented me from doing what I like and it is time to be rid of it!

Well there is a new variant that seems to be on the way...Lambda and Mu. it has been detected in Chile, Brazil another SA countries. Has also been reported to be in California as well

And in the mean time, China seems to be skating free after they unleashed a virus that has killed millions and caused economic catastrophes throughout the planet.

I have never been much of a conspiracy pawn, but I truly believe the Chinese were trying to weaponize a virus for military purposes and it got out.

What do you call it when your actions result in the deaths of millions?

My wife and I had Covid, and have had both shots.

I had something the Thanksgiving before it all started, I was struggling to breathe, I was afraid to sleep, could not exert myself at all, I pissed myself several times just trying to get to the bathroom. I was scared to death never been that sick, Finally went to Urgent care they give me a shot and I felt better in about 5 days. I must of had c19 I'm just glad I wasn't sick like that around May of 2019 I would prolly be dead from a vent..my wife beat my back bout 8x a day as I lay on the couch to break up the gunk...it was a scary time, have only had 1 cold since

Unless you have immunity from prior infection.

According to medical journal reports, the level of protection one gets from prior infection is far less than what is provided by the vaccines and the "immunity" wears off faster too. Evidence is from those who've reported having Covid more than once (like reported in this very thread), AND . . . whatever "immunity" one might get (there's a wide variance of "immunity" between various people) from having Covid, let's keep in mind that doesn't mean one can't spread the disease to others any different than those who've been inoculated.

There is a general consensus among docs that you've got about 3 months of reliable protection from infection. This is based on seeing very few if any patients come in with clear reinfection before three months. Vaccines seem to be good for 6+, and are a safer source of immunity than rolling the dice with reinfections. Each bout of COVID is different. You might have a mild case the first time and die the second. Losing smell is no joke- it's really bad for mood and mental health if it persists. The vaccine is natural immunity- it has no immunologic components itself, just mRNA that degrades quickly as does all mRNA that we produce. DNA is designed to be stable long term information storage, mRNA is meant to be temporary. It helps prime your natural immune system to be ready for COVID is all. Your body does the rest. It's not an antibody infusion, for example.

I have a good friend who had COVID last month and distrusts the vaccine, so has been hoping to rely on natural immunity for long-term protection. He had his IgG antibody test done this week and it was negative. Slim chance it's a lab error, but most likely he just didn't mount a great long-lasting response. It happens. I hate that he's being forced to get vaccinated with the new mandate, but I'm happy he'll have the protection.

A further bit of perspective for those suspicious of genetic material being used as a vaccine, our body is full of foreign DNA, RNA, etc floating around. We're big bacterial sacks after all. Our own DNA has traces of leftovers from the bacteria and viruses we host- rare instances of DNA being incorporated into our genome. It's generally inconsequential, and perfectly natural. It's a little weird to learn about, but very interesting.

Sorry to hear you're feeling under the weather.

Had a couple jabs of the Pfizer. No reactions with the first, but the second slowed me down for a couple of days with several days' worth of localized swelling and ache. Otherwise, good to go.

No idea, now, nearly five months later, how weak the immune system has gotten in terms of guarding against the thing. But hopefully this booster will come along before too long and it won't be much of an issue. Would love to see longer-term immunity strength from an annual booster, but it's far too early to tell whether this one's going to hold strong that long.

They say its NEVER going to go away. Its not designed to go away. We will be living with it for the long term.

One of my daughters is a nurse at Omaha, Nebraska in a COVID-19 ICU. She has been getting (something) every 3 months since the first injections were made available. They don’t have to force her as she has seen the tragic results of being infected over and over again.

I do believe that it should be an individual’s choice whether to receive a vaccine or not, but I can see both sides of the argument. I don’t know the answer to all of what’s happened. However, I lean heavily toward the belief that this, COVID-19, was NOT an accident, but something that is man made, genetically engineered. I’m also very concerned that COVID-19 is here to stay. I pray that a way to make everyone safe from COVID-19 is developed, soon.

It's being worked on. I don't remember just now whether it was either on the Curiosity Stream channel I subscribe to or a Scientific American article recently that reported some scientist are working on a single permanent vaccine (yes, it something that genetically engineered like the covid vaccines) that will be effective against ALL viruses. That's just one inoculation for the rest one one's life. It's not something that's going to be around any time soon, but technology is making it look like a very promising future for it. I'm so old, it's not likely to happen in my lifetime. It's very exciting stuff to think about such positive stuff for the future.
