what about going with a necked down and improved 338 lapua? brass life should be excellent with the 40 degree shoulder
you also have the case capacity to get the 240 smk's to 3500 fps, at the speed you need 14.5 moa to 1000 yards, 230 bergers would
be better....
Say that again? With all due respect, I'd like to see proof of that speed, and at what pressure was it?
Scott

I burned up two 300RUM barrels and shot the 240's out of a 28" barrel and never saw anything more then 3100fts on a hot day. I destroyed a few cases with a compressed load of Retumbo. LOL could set primers by hand :-)

Was talking to Dave Tooley last year about a 30 cal hotrod build off the 375 Ruger case. Can't remember whet name was hung on it at the time but it was supposed to be one accurate number. Anyone know have information on this?

That would be the 30 HSM. That can either stand for Hornady Short Magnum or Hornady Super Match. It was designed by Joe Thielen an engineer at Hornady.
I have a Model 70 hunting rifle chambered in it as well as a 1k heavy gun. I agree with Tooley that it has a little too much case capacity for best accuracy but it still does very well.
I am shooting 225 BTHPs in the HG at 2950 fps, it will easily push them 3050 but I found best accuracy at 2950 using H1000. I plan to try some of the new Berger 230 Hybrids this summer.
