If it is this model GML-1440BGF-1 and is made in Taiwan I think your good to go
If it's made in China I would avoid it and find one made in Taiwan
Taiwan models are much better workmanship and parts

GML-1440BGF-1 this one that is listed may not be the same place but it is listed/clamed to be from Taiwan but I would double check with distributor to make sure because there is something on the machine that looks china (tailstock)

I'm very happy with my Taiwan 12-36 lathe a 14-40 could only be better.
Some may say the d1-4 spindle is a little small for that size lathe but that is what I would want easy to work with and matches my 12-36 lathe

Yeah as of now i'am looking at the gmc 1440 and the pm 1236T. The gmc seams to come with a few more items for around the same price. Gmc has little more h.p. and dro and taper attachment installed.

Is this a new machine? That lathe would do just about anything you'd need for gunsmithing.

A D1-4 ain't too small by any means! Get my age and it is getting pretty large. Gunsmithing does not require a large chuck mounting.
