Glass Bed Only OR Pillar & Glass Bed?

Yes, i'll dremel off the top of the finish in all areas to get bedded and planned on drilling a little off the rear part of recoil lug so it gets a bit thicker in that area

Question.... how do i go about masking off the area where the bolt release is? i know clay, but how to know the contour in there? Trigger assembly gets removed, correct?

Do what you can with the clay, guess where you have to. You can use masking tape on some of the inlets too. You'll have to go back in after it cures and clean up and clearance a few areas. That's just part of the job. Yep, take the trigger out, easier.

is using the Devcon plastic steel putty good for setting the pillars? or use the more liquid epoxy?

I plan on using the putty for the bedding.

Yes Toby, I originally wanted to do this myself and watched many videos and read alot of articles. I probably don't have to right tools for the job (drill press for one).

I'd really like to find someone who would help me so I can learn as I do it. But no luck with that so far.

Another excellent reason to have a state listed in the profile. I have a drill press, vises, clamps, indicators, 25 yrs machining experience but haven't the foggiest for a quick, easy 10-20.

Thought mine was in profile. Well, it is now.

I’ve been meaning to ask this question for a little while now. All this talk about betting material shrinking over time makes me wonder about the glue that’s used to glue in an action. Does it shrink also?

If not, could you just bed the action out of that same material?

Thanks

You do. But when its stuck to the action it stays there. When a release agent is used you already have empty space before you even start

If you can feel those pillars it will really settle the debate
