Getting Ready for the Nursing Home

My wish is that I pass in an hay field while hunting ghogs but some how I feel it won't be that easy. The saying goes, "be careful what you wish for" - I hope so.:)

The thought of spending my final days in a nursing home is scary as hell. Saw it with my mom - not a good look.
Yep that would be great in my view to. Really I’ve seen enough of the nursing homes I sure don’t wanna go. After they take ur money you have no other place to go and so you can’t get out even if they let you. One guy I know in one calls it jail. Thanks

I wish that was all the magazines I had, joined the NRA in 1973 I have every one up to this date, plus 20 years earlier from my dad’s collection.
30+ years hand loader.
20 years precision reloading.
Guns and ammo? Don’t know how many years?
Varmint Hunter magazine?
Still read them can about tell what on the cover and what in side articles are.
Not alone with all my castings equipment when I moved to where I am at, try
36 tall 5 gallon buckets of wheel weights also.
Just turned 60
Hey Zeke - I have American rifleman from early 70s to. I am going to get rid of the ones in the 2000s. Need some from the 90s though. Do you want to sell any? I’ve only got one bucket of wheel weights. I think I need some more of them. I seem to be busy enough though.

hoz53
Don’t really need any from 2000s or want to get rid of the 90 but if you come through my neck of the woods I’ll give ya couple buckets of wheel weights, and stick of Linotype for starters

ok Zeke thanks for the post and the offer

UMMMMMMMMM.....I am not sure what to say. I do know this. I watched my father for almost 5 years in a veterans home stair out in space not knowing a thing and was 100% taken care of. What ever I need to do it will happen before I get to that point.

We all find ourselves in bad places at times. The true test is what we do to deal with it.

Can’t go back back and change the past. Expensive lessons hopefully learned and not repeated.

Sounds like you see where you are and know where you want to go. Execute your plan to get there starting today with the first step. It’s sure as hell not going to all be easy. Sure, you may stumble and fall along the way. We all do. Get up, readjust if need be, and keep doing what it takes to make yourself happy. It’s up to us to live our lives like we want to and be happy. I refuse to let any person take my joy.

My Dad use to say “I am not responsible for how you treat me. I am responsible for how I treat you.” Those that live life screwing others will have to answer for what they do-sooner or later.

Be well.
Charles
Well said Charles. Tommy Mc . Getting there myself !!!!!

Thinking of Nursing Homes and old age kept me from worrying about being electrocuted when I was working. Now those thoughts keep me from worrying about having a fatal car wreck or falling out of a Deer stand.

I've heard that some elderly people book continues cruses. Private room, medical professionals, burial at sea (maybe), good food and drink.

If a person could swing it financially that kind of cruise sounds good to me. I know plenty of people that pay 4000/month on up to stay in assisted living. Could prob go on a nice trip for that.

When I was about 34 years old, I visited my favorite uncle Ed in a nursing home which he had just recently been put in. I walked in and said " Hey, Ed, how's it going?" his reply was " Just sitting here, waiting to die". I have never heard truer words in my life.
ive heard alot of people say that in lots of different living circumstances.. Its very sad isnt it. Seems like there would be a better way.

Yeah! And these days, they’re really cheap! Dying may come sooner than you think, too!
