Have never seen an over killed coyote or groundhog.
Yep for a hunting rig you cannot ask for more than that.Whelp, looks like the Redline likes them 70 TSXs well enough...

That is two 'cold bore' shots, a day apart. I know some like to get all hung up on shooting tiny groups, which makes perfect sense if that's the name of the game! But, for a pure killin' rifle, I'm MUCH more concerned about initial, repeatable 'cold bore' impact. So, to see a killin' bullet rag the same hole out, is to make for one very happy, very confident hunter...
I'll slap the chronograph on next time out, to confirm MV & see how close Quickload prediction is to reality. Should be crowding 3900!
Here's the REDLINE, with a 3-15x50 sittin' pretty & ready to wreak havoc on some coyotes & whitetails...

Coyotes didn't wanna play, and the flat out hot& dank wet weather sure didn't help things!
Anyhoo, shot the 70TSXs to 400yds, and accuracy was holding just fine. Looks like 3865 FPS is indeed where they're running at...quite tame compared to the smokin' 4K FPS 75JLKs used for chuck schwackin' thus summer...
Note to self, DO NOT SHOOT the Redline on steel @ 200yds!!!
For a goof, wanted to note POI shift between this new 70 TSX load, and the proven 75 JLK load, just in case I wanted to swap either/or for a coyote. Whelp, the 75 JLK impacts 0.1mil high, with the scope zeroed for the 70TSX, that's easy enough to compensate for! But, my AR-500plate suffered a fatality in the process...

Sheeeeit, I shoulda known better!!! THE 70TSX throttled the plate, but the 75JLK going 150fps faster just sizzled right thru...YIKES!
Fredo -
Nice to hear from you, again !
I was having withdrawals !!
Out of curiousity...... how far off the lands are you runnin’ those TSX ?
With regards,

Fredo, you sound exactly like me. Passing up gimme shots with archery gear to maybe get a better opportunity with a rifle or muzzleloader. The only difference is, I do it every year. Pretty much don't normally need venison by archery season so I wait. Passing up nice bucks that I don't seem to find later in the year. I'm an idiot, I know. 30 years ago I'd have ventilated anything with decent bone on it's head. Today, not so much.P.S....
Think I need my head examined???
Passed a (small rack) decent older buck with the bow the other evening. He strolled right past @ 23yds, oblivious to having fully drawn pins on his ribs. As I was sizing him up, couldn't help but think, "yeah I'd prolly shoot him with the REDLINE"...if that tall feller don't show up...
So, what I'm sayin is...I just passed a chip shot at a better'n average buck (for here) with a bow, in hopes of saving him for reserve duty, with a rifle
After having pondered this (my sanity) the last 36hrs, have come to the conclusion that, this buck just played his "get outta jail free" card. Cuz, if'n he decides to push luck and pull that 23yd 'drive by' again, imma hafta loose a VPA on his ribcage...and worry bout rifle season, later!!
December seems to appeal to me more these days especially now that I have the permanent box blind. HEAT in December is new to me. Heat, comfort and a good rifle/ crossbow rest is tough to beat in December. Never been a crossbow fan but again with this new blind, I have one for the December archery season. Figured out that sitting in a tree with alot of cloths on in 10° temps with a vertical bow makes drawing it back impossible without lowering the weight. Crossbows a no brainer.John, after a hunter has shot enough deer (bow & gun), seems like the thrill off letting one pass is just as exciting as if you'd get your hands on em?
Will always love bow hunting, it's such a pretty time of year & we get to see deer so close up! Reckon it was also creepin' in back my head that I just didn't wanna punch my bow buck tag, too soon...
The freezer will get filled, one way or another!
