Gentlemen, I present... the ".220 REDLINE"

Thanks fellas!
If you're having half the fun watchin' em as I did making 'em, then that's a good thing... :)

OK, one more to share, then I'm going back to the DEEP for some more bigeyes! And, another SNERT, for good measure...

THANK YOU, P! Still humbled & honored by your kindness!

I'm really glad your Redline was a success. When you said you were using the 9 twist, I wasn't sure what the results would be. Knowing the 75 Amax will do fine, I wasn't sure about some of the others. Sounds like it turned out exactly as you hoped. Based on the vids, it did. Those videos are a testimate to barrel life not mattering in this case. If 500-1000 RDS do that after you pull the trigger, who really cares how long it lasts. Spin another, and your on your way to another 1000 RDS of bliss.

Be interesting to see what the 65 JLK Low Drag would do out of that big case too. Of all the bullets I've ever tested out of 22's that was the most accurate on the avg., just not great terminally, unfortunately. Great BC for it's weight though at .4. Actually still got a bunch of them, and some others. If you want to check some, let me know I have too many now, honestly. I have something like 2000 70 JLK VLD's just sitting around collecting dust...?

Speaking of "fishing"--just found a new spot for bowfishing last week. My next week off i'll be prairie doggin' in the morning, bowfishing the afternoon. Heck, life is still good ain't it?

Steve, yes it is!
I have a bunch of 60 LD JLKs and a 1:12 blank that I never spun up as a .22-243AI. That might be fun to try as a slow twist REDLINE...just to see how close to 5K we could get???

One thing I learned when loading this latest batch. Some of my 'test load' Redline brass is toast after 3x fired, reckon those were the ones that were running the 75s@ 4088fps? Anyhoo, Mr. Kriebles is getting one toasted piece for his cool cartridge collection ;)

Even if I only get 500rds outta this first 1:9 Brux, that's a heckuvalotta chuck 'snertifications'! Will see how many more firings I get outta the rest of that batch of brass. I used 3992fps as velocity for these last videos, so that RL-33 seems to be mildly susceptible to the warmer temps, and is likely toasting this brass up, too. Bolt lift had juuuust a bit of resistance, so I wouldn't doubt it. Far as I'm concerned, those test cases are expendable, and will take a bit more care with the next bunch...

Still shaking my head that this sucker is running a 75gr bullet right up at the 4,000fps mark! Now that some semblance of a baseline has been established, will entertain throttling back to see how many firings can be achieved with a fresh batch of brass, at a lower node.

Fredo--you are The Man, no doubt. Keep me posted if you need some test bullets, on me. Just keep typing away. We love reading about experimentation sir. Be interesting to see you hook up with Pat Walker, another shootist who's using a 14 Walker XP-100 pistol, and zapping a LOT of chucks with it out to the mid-200's with a 15 gr. (.220 BC) bullet at 3759 fps mv. Heckuva' good guy too.

Of the dozens of good threads, this one has got to be the best i have ever followed. Mostly because I get to see tough shots (i used to shoot and miss some of those chucks relatives) made look easy. That rifle has got to be the bees knees for what you are doing there Fredo. When winter comes and ol Yote hangs up at 500 yards just looking over the snow bank at ya, well, I think i know how that is gonna end.

Aaaannnd, one more...
This one is a serious cranial vaporization
Have to break position to re-center camera, then drop back behind the rifle, hence the delay...
Listen to the crow 'call' the shot!

Looks like your "Redmist 220" strikes again.

Whelp...got a touch of saltwater fever & let the chucks be, for the better part of the summer. So, that just means there'll be more for next spring!

As for my initial batch of brass, some more have succumbed to loose pockets @3x fired. Figured there'd be casualties along the way, least I know I found the rev limiter on some! Reckon, 4088fps from a 75grainer was indeed pushin' a bit much...

Just loaded up a few 70TSXs to mess with for bigger critters. Based on tweaked QL calcs, should get em going in the 3860+ range, with very tame (53Kpsi) load of '33. I know what those bullets do to a deer @ 3550, and confident that an extra 300fps won't change that!

Muzzle brake swapped back out for thread cap, and big scope swapped for 3-15x. And should have at least a couple tags to fill. Maybe see about rollin' some tape on a deer gettin' REDLINED???

I sure hope a coyote doesn’t come by after you get your deer down Fredo.......for his sake:D
Matt

Matt, yeah...that'd be a real tragedy! :D

Targets of opportunity always welcomed, but I'll be campaigning for coyotes, specifically, once our season opens up. Fun as chuck schwackin' is, there's NOTHING like setting up a stand to have a sneaky coyote fall for a well laid 'trap' & catch a bullet !!! The REDLINE is gonna be complete & utter 'overkill' for a ~40lb canine, but a fella's got have his fun...;)

No such word as overkill !!!
